The Jeb Bush College of Education

New music software, new music, a possible cure for diabetes... what could possibly screw up a day like this? Oh, right, Republican bullshit. This isn't even the third or fourth most egregious example this morning... but something about it typifies everything about conservative "government" these days.

And even JEB! himself thinks it's a bad idea (http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070410/APN/704102976):

"While Gov. Bush appreciates the gesture, he believes public service is an honor in and of itself and naming a building, road or program after an elected official will diminish that service," Levesque [Jeb Bush's spokesperson] wrote in an e-mail. "Additionally, the most appropriate time to name something after an elected official is after their passing."

Note, though, that he hasn't stopped them. He's either going to go ahead and let it through (which would display his ego) or wait until the last minute and turn down the renaming at the ceremony itself (which would be grandstanding for the press and making a big deal out of his humility).
