We Know What's Best For The Little Woman

By way of [livejournal.com profile] vixyish: Read, and read. And then, after you're done throwing up and gnashing your teeth and cursing these fucking evil moron Puritan babysitter wannabes to the skies, act, and act.

ETA: Honestly, gang, while I appreciate you asking if you can copy a link, you can pretty much assume that if I put the links up here and tell you to go do something about them, [a] they're reasonably safe, at least on a browser/system security basis, and [b] it's okay to copy 'em to your own LJ or wherever. Dang, but I've got a polite buncha friends. :)

I haven't got time right now -- not being dismissive, I literally don't have the time to respond to all of this till about tomorrow -- but I think I might be able to find some well-written (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_of_rights) laws (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Us_constitution) for ya. And, yes, a number of them are practically always up for dispute, which brings us back to hair-splitting and attempts to get things The Way You Want Them To Be. But, really, they're pretty darn clear and straightforward.

I have lost [a] sight of your point, if you have one, [b] patience watching you play the George Carlin kids-in-Catholic-school-"Would-That-Be-A-Sin-Then-Father?" game with ever-damn-thing on this and a number of other topics, and [c] the desire to continue wasting my time and annoying the pedant.

I don't like banning people, especially for expressing their honest opinions, which I know you're doing. And I'm not going to do it. But, jayzus. This bullshit had me thinking about it.

And, so saying, he stopped bashing his head against the wall, and moved on.

Intact D&X is performed in cases of extreme hydorcephaly, when there is no other way to remove the child. In all these cases, the brain is non-existent or too stunted to sustain life because of the volume (up to 2 gallons!) of spinal fluid that can swell the head to the size of a beach ball or greater.

Intact D&X is performed because the other late term option is dismemberment, which causes broken bones that can perforate the woman's uterus.

It's also frequently done on dead fetuses.

My info is from Religious Tolerance.org

It's not done on healthy, normal infants.

Viable, certainly but not commonly. Down's syndrome children can live, after all. And often, Down's can't be detected until the second trimester. 90% of parents facing a Down's pregnancy will abort. Those are more commonly done by saline or injection.

It's not done on a whim or out of convenience.
It's done because a wanted pregnancy has gone badly wrong.

The real question when it comes to abortion is "Are women actually intelligent enough to know what's best for themselves and their current/future families? Or are they just stupid, selfish monsters that men need to keep on a tight rein?"
