Both Keith and the commenters (wow, good comments on a political piece, whodathunkit?) hit on something I've been pounding on for years: The questioning is important. (Why WERE there four different stories?? huh? huh?) The demonization is equally important - to squash. The concept of attacking a man in place of attacking his story is so old a logical fallacy it has a Latin name: ad hominem... and it's one of the few crimes that'll get you chucked out of any forum I were to run.
I'm glad Keith - and his commenters - have the idea of having something, or someone, out into the light and having a critical, thinking look at it firmly in place. It works much better than leaving it in the dark and going "fnord, fnord!" We need more such behavior.
