The krummhorn (or krumhorn or crumhorn) is a traditional Renaissance instrument. It's a reed instrument, and it has a much rougher, reedier sound than a flute, or even a modern reed instrument like an oboe, but I think it's an auditory treat. It's a long tube bent in the shape of a sans-serif capital J, so I suppose it sort of looks like a bent flute.
