Tom, Recently, SEVERAL friends of mine have started checking out sparkpeople.com, and I'd recommend it to you. Now mind you, they will make recommendations, but you don't have to follow those...just the fact that it gives you a diet plan, and then says "This is how you can do this", it also lets you say "This is my current weight, this is my target, and I want to hit it by *blank*"
One friend in particular is quite pleased, a few others see the potential, and me...um, I'm working on it. As is, just by doing the calorie counting that it recommends again, I'm down 2 lbs (my primary goal is 6 more...then I'll be happy til I set another goal).
