All right here. I highly recommend the lovely (and surprisingly controversial) Coca-Cola spot "America the Beautiful", the Budweiser one with the puppy, the SodaStream one for sheer prurience, the Jaguar one for your British bad guy fix, and the faux ad for Monsanto.

Which are your favorites?

Great sadness. Elmore Leonard has passed away at the age of 87. He wrote remarkable works, vivid and exciting, many of which were translated to film.

I will never forget the first time I saw Get Shorty. There's this remarkable moment with John Travolta and Dennis Farina, where Farina -- oh, just watch:

I was about to go crazy when Farina incorrectly used "e.g.", and Travolta corrected him, and I loved this movie and everything about it, and especially I loved Elmore Leonard.

Rest well, sir, and thanks.

The comments on YouTube are about how much they would pay for this, but all I can think is that it's practically a seminar for how to make such art yourself. Hot off of MuseCon, howzabout linking up to some especially cool instructional videos?

Up to this point, I thought the best (and certainly the simplest) commentary on the Royale Deluxe avec Fromage was, "He weighs 8 lbs., 6 oz. That's $13 American."

But, no. I do believe you will find this worth your time.

Must-see video at dKos. The point here is not how much of a doof Gov. Rick Perry is, so much as it's the awesome pro-New York video Lewis Black and the Daily Show staff put together.

If you could move, right now, for free, to any city in America, where would you go? I'm torn between staying in the Ann Arbor area, Kissimmee, FL, or Chattanooga, TN (very important perqs: access to I-75 and the fastest internet in the country).

I was just reminded on Facebook how very cool this video is, and it seemed a good time to share.

Any fun Muppet videos you want to link to?

First up, a German-made 3D CGI Tarzan which looks interesting. I presume there will be an English version:

And then there's Boxtrolls:

What animated features, CGI or no, are you looking forward to?

Emotionally busy afternoon. This just seemed a thing.

How you all doin'?

On this dKos page, which also has links to US statistics and resources (more in the comments).

Today is the anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence. I hope you all have a fantastic day, barbecue somethin' tasty, relax, and have some fun. Meantime, let's all sing!

Sadness. Cowboy crooner and yodeler Slim Whitman has passed away at the age of 90. An international recording star for decades, with recordings spanning from 1954 to 2010, he had a smooth-as-whiskey voice, an amazing falsetto, and a unique, haunting style:

Of course, it could have a somewhat discordant effect on the unwary:

Rest well, sir, and thanks.

At least until Saturday. Anne and I think it rocks -- good voice acting, fast-moving tight script, good animation, Black Widow's cheekbones -- what else do you want?

I'm showing you this:

so I can show you this:

Ninety-four years young. Teacherken at dKos has a great selection of videos. Feel free to link us to more.

What's your favorite anti-war folk song? Mine, without question, is "The Band Played 'Waltzing Matilda'" by Eric Bogle. And Tom Paxton's "What Did You Learn In School Today?" is right behind, followed by Phil Ochs' "I Ain't A-Marchin' Anymore".
filkertom: (ThumbsUp)
Right here. All I'll say is, it's about a minute of character work. By RDJ and Gwyneth. Don't want spoilers, don't watch.
filkertom: (ThumbsUp)

Yeah. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. Haven't even got past IRON MAN 3 yet, and I'm already jacked to the max for this. And they got Rene Russo back!
