Just suffered through a night of American Idol auditions (why, oh why do I do that to myself?) and found out I don't have to go to the dentist on Friday. So not a half bad night, all things considered.
Went to the first session of my Advanced Java class tonight and the professor pulled a no-show. None of the admins could get hold of him. They eventually told us all to go home, we would not be penalized for missing this session (we get 1 absence per semester since it only meets once a week before our grade could be penalized. Tonight won't count for that).
Currently, I'm pondering my next beading project and wondering just what time in the morning the maintence guy is actually going to show up. Pretty quiet otherwise. I got to watch the new episode of Mythbusters, which is always a good time.
That's the one, and I agree with Jamie; sitting there watching Adam (basically) drowning was very unsettling. Yeah, my dad was expressing some doubts about the effects the support chains were having on the rate of sinkage. One thing I really like about the show is that they're willing to go back and try it again if there's enough evidence that they screwed up. Somehow I don't think this one is going to be up for retesting though. ~_^
I've been working like hell, trying to get a computer ready for an impoverished friend of mine. I can't get the beastie to boot from the DVD drive, and therefore can't install Windows on it. I went and bought the identical motherboard, removed the other one and installed the new one. It still won't boot.
About the only thing, and I doubt very much if it would matter, is changing out the video card. If I can find a spare, I'll try that next. And if that doesn't work, I'll take it to the computer show at the fairgrounds this weekend, and see if there's a roving repairman who can come up with a solution.
This is the first time this has ever happened. It is more frustrating than my sex life...because, after all, that's nearly nil anyway, and I'm used to rejection and depresson there. But I could USUALLY get a hacked-together computer to work!
It is up and down and up again. Detailed out on my Going Debt Free (http://community.livejournal.com/goingdebtfree/) community, I sent the wrong payment to the wrong company. I finally got the refund from that to get my unpaid loan taken care of. My eBay auction worth at least $45 bucks only ended up netting in $20.00 which was a huge disappointment.
However, I did get a call back for a second interview at a new job and I won an autographed copy of 52 Week #1 on eBay for only $5.24. So overall, I'm very happy.

Other than that, rebuilding my desktop a bit. (Annoying when the motherboard decides to have the capacitors die.)

Not comfy with myself right now at all.
