DVD Day

Not much at all today, apart from Torchwood: The Complete First Season. Seasons of The Odd Couple, Barney Miller, ER, Hawaii-Five-Oh, and Banacek, if you want any of those.

However.

Either May 6 or 8 -- seems to be kinda up in the air -- all you collectors who didn't snag it the first time around will be able to get your hands on a reasonably priced copy of the hitherto-exceedingly-rare DVD of MST3K: The Movie.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] gorn_captain posting in [livejournal.com profile] mst3k for the heads-up.

Which MST3K episodes do you have on disk? And which do you want?

I'm in the works at getting everything they've done. From KTMA to Sci-Fi and the movie. Perhaps by May, it'll actually be in my hands. ;)

"Banacek"? Sweet!

Right after "Columbo" "Banacek" was my favorite of the "NBC Mystery Movies" cycle.

Don't have any. Would like several, but the Countess isn't that keen.

SWEET! We've had the MST3K: The Movie DVD for years, and I misplaced it. When I went to buy a new copy, I was floored at the cost.

Sadly, I do not have any MST3K episodes on disc, besides the movie, that are my favourites. "The Mole People" and "Terror From The Year 5000" are way up on my list of Wish-They'd-Release-Ems.

YES! FINALLY! :D

I love all the MST3K movies and want all of them on DVD, but I can't afford the price they charge. I understand the reasonings behind why they're so expensive, but still.

Have found this if anyone's interested...

Nice! Now I can add a few I missed. Do you know if they're legit/trustworthy? Just want to check before making an order.

For anyone else who's interested, today is also the day that "The Kingdom Series 1 AND 2" is released on DVD, for those of us here in the states.

Christmas Gift cards were put to good use on that one. :-)

Big fan of anything from the Joel years. I've got a lot of episodes on tape, and it's only because I spent a lot of money getting those (after having wiped, in a prime example of extreme short-sightedness, my fairly large collection of first-gen tapes, and then having to pay mucho $ to replace them with fuzzy copies) that I'm still holding off on getting some on DVD. It's inevitable, though.

Unfortunately my DVD collection is at my Dad's house, otherwise I'd go through them for you.

As for which one's I want? How about "every one from the Joel/Frank era"?

[identity profile] trdsf.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Which ones do I want? All of them!

I have all the singles and box sets (including The Movie) through the ninth set, and all of KTMA/S1 and several other strays from DAP Central -- all the available specials and special appearances, the two Home Games from SciFi (I managed to get six comments on screen between both showings) -- the Scrapbook tape, three movies that Mike did commentary on for Off Color Films (Carnival of Souls, Reefer Madness and Night of the Living Dead), the Three Stooges disc with bumpers by The Film Crew (Mike, Kevin and Bill), and three full tapes of footage from the '96 ConventioCon that I really need to convert to digital, edit, and make available on DAP Central. When I get paid Thursday, I'm ordering the first Cinematic Titanic offering.

Me? Obsessive fan much? :)

I've got the ones I want. I have a lot I recorded on VHS (although many may be dead and gone or rotted away), but I have the double-disk of "Manos" and "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," plus a fan version of "Gamara vs. Guiron" - I think that's the title - where the guys sing the Gamera Theme Song...

Gamera is really neat
Gamera is full of meat
We've been eating Gamera!

Oh, by the way, Banacek was one of the detective stories that marked a big change in TV. It was after the assassinations, and the censors felt they had to make a deal. So, for very reduced violence, they kind of turned a blind eye to sexual content.

For the first time, you could actually imply, in a prime time series, the idea that single adults might be having sex with one another. Willingly. Having fun doing so. Without guilt afterwards.

As a guy who would not "get any" for another decade, that was astonishing and pleasing to me. It might not seem very revolutionary to people today, but it was like an atom bomb in the TV of the time.

Ah, so that was when it happened. I've been maundering about this general subject in my own LJ. Thank you!
