ALAS, work and life have overridden the plans.. *SIGH*
I HIGHLY recommend any techy or gadget geek make the trip to CES one year. You've never seen anything like it. Huge beyond imagining and the toys! Oh Building after Building of WONDERFUL toys! And all before they hit the stores. A great "Be the first on your block to see" moments.
And to be a squad of geeks loose on Vegas for a week is pretty amazing too!
Alas, no. G4-TechTV just plain sucks. Weirdly enough, all the old heads from TechTV are going to be there (CES) just representing other people. Leo's doing it for his radio show. Cat's covering it for a website and so on.
They G4'ed The Screen Savers and now it's all the "yung'ens" only hosting and presenting. Mostly fluff, no real reviews (just repeating press releases), and 50+% games reviews (doesn't G4 have enough shows dedicated to that?).
At least they didn't fuck with X-Play. Keeping Adam and Morgan (le sighhhhh), who kept their irreverent attitudes, real reviews & scores of games, and are slipping in pot shots at G4 bosses.
Ever watch X-Play then watch one of G4's lame gaming shows? Its amazing. IQs suddenly drop by 50%.
Adam and Morgan and smart, funny and honest about the games they review. And they are just as smart, funny and personable in person.
I tried to watch the latest incarnate of "The Screen Savers" and turned it off. Its dumbed down to the point where if I want these kinds of answers, I'll go talk to the clerks at CompUSA. And they have become the worse kinds of suck ups, like the rest of G4. Leo and Patrick would tell you straight out of something sucked and they didn't care who they were talking about.
I want LEO! I want PATRICK! I want the Sledge Hammer!
Very much in agreement over the collapse of TechTV. I remember seeing the news reports about it, and a lot of wailing on several tech sites as to how this was going to screw it up... and, boy, did it ever. huskiebear was even more put out.
