Big Super Frickin' Hooey

[livejournal.com profile] huskiebear is giving me a ride out to my brother's place today with replacement parts for my poor hapless car. Then we go back to her place; I help her clean, I do my laundry, we make sloppy joes. Dunno what we're gonna watch; I know what we're not gonna watch.

So.

What are you doing today, if you're not watching that stupid game?

[identity profile] zachkessin.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Game What game?

I'm pretending to work, but as I have a cold not much is getting done.

[identity profile] redaxe.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm at work from 7P-7A, after getting home from the current shift at 10A. Sleep between, and celebrating the start of baseball season after the g/a/m/b/l/e/r/s/ football addicts have had their fix.

And listening to good music the while, of course. Except, probably, while sleeping :-)

[identity profile] arete.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Cleaning my room in the apartment--probably by shifting a bunch of the movie dvds out to the communal dvdcase--and doing laundry.

[identity profile] sdorn.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't have a television, so we wouldn't be able to watch any broadcast TV live. Maybe we'll watch one of the Rumpole episodes on DVDs out from Netflix, or maybe I'll just be catching up on the mondo to-do list. Which I have yet to make up/update. (To do: (a) Make to-do list. Aiiiiiiieeeeeeee! (b) Stop sounding like Callisto.)

[identity profile] tigertoy.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
When I get home from cleaning tiger cages, I'll hopefully have the motivation to deal with a backlog of pictures I need to sort, and read.

[identity profile] msminlr.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Stitching With The Oldies at the retirement center til 3:30, then visiting my brother in the hospital. (am I safe yet? when IS the game broadcast?)

I've almost got this year's GaFilk Interfilk quilt wound-up and ready to ship to Kathleen.

[identity profile] gypsy1969.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It has been my tradition in the past to do some shopping during THAT GAME, because the stores are nearly empty. This year I have little money so if I shop it will only be at the grocery. My brother is having a game party and invited me to it because it is a ruse for his wife's 50th surprise birthday party. Since he only invited me yesterday and since I hate football I told him no. It's just as well, I'm ”not on my game” today.

What game? Is that basketball championship thingy, the Oliver Cup, today?

I'm going to clean up the apartment a bit, then have dinner (probably roasting a duck, possibly a chicken, and making some kind of fruit tart) with [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle and watching more Babylon 5. We're in early season 5, and we're going to skip most of the telegoth arc. Then I'll load her bookshelf in her car (assuming she drives here). By the time she leaves, That Stupid Game should be over. If it's not, and I still want to watch TV, probably the Food Network has something on.

[identity profile] bald-ruminant.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Game? There are no games today. The NHL is still locked out.

[identity profile] joecoustic.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It says l lot that I didn't even realize the Super Bowl was today.
That does explain why the grocery store was crazier than usual yesterday suppose.

I'll be doing the ubiquitous homework and hopefully something else relaxing and fun.

[identity profile] suecochran.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be sleeping, and playing with our kittens. Maybe some housework but I doubt it. Having a friend over 2pm-ish to see the kittens (he'll be taking one and wants to observe their personalities before choosing).

[identity profile] bardicwench.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be harassing my sister at the restaurant that she works at. It's a little Indian place that doesn't have tvs, so it will be nice to sports-less.

[identity profile] wouldyoueva.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll Tivo the game, do something else for the first hour or so, and then zap through the game to watch the commercials.

Jack usually wants to watch it, so I usually clean in the general vicinity, and stop to watch the commercials. That's been our custom, anyway. It'll probably be on in his room.

In 1983, we went off during the game to watch GANDHI, figuring the theater would be less crowded. During intermission, the usher announced the score of the game. If we were interested, why wouldn't we be home watching it? Never understood what his thinking was.

I'm burning CDs for Radio Capricon, doing laundry and playing with my kids

[identity profile] gridlore.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd actually like to watch the game (even though the Patriots are going to roll all over the Eagles) but have to work.

What can I say, I'm a sports nut.

[identity profile] shikyrie.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
What are you doing today, if you're not watching that stupid game?

going back to bed for a couple more hours, going shopping, maybe putting in a dvd (Happy Tree Friends or Invader ZIM) and sitting in front of this hypnobox...

[identity profile] arensb.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
that stupid game

Didn't they already have a Superbowl last year? And after the trauma of having half the nation exposed to a half-second shot that might have contained a nipple, I thought the network censors would have cancelled it.

Oh, and this might come in handy.

[identity profile] trektone.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had sufficient interest in either team, I'd be watching. I was even invited to a couple of SB parties.

Will probably spend the time cleaning my place, going to a movie, or attending a reading/booksigning (Lucius Shepard).

It's a Netflix day! Currently watching MANHUNTER, with discs of season 4 OZ, season 7 BUFFY, and DA ALI G show at my disposal. Also trying to get some writing done, and if I'm lucky I'll get some RP in.

I'll be working... for the cable company. So lords help me if the signal goes out. ;)

Actually, I *will* be watching "that stupid game". Mostly for the commercials. (*sigh* I miss adcritic.com.) And eating pizza. Since the two teams playing are ones I don't follow, I won't be paying close attention to the game.

What I want to know is....why is there such a huge disparity between SF fans and sports fans?

[identity profile] surakofb5.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Watching Stargate episodes on DVD. Or anything else on DVD.

[identity profile] ericthemage.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I rode three miles on the exercise bike today. Watching the marathon of Mythbusters. Playing with my newborn. Normal stuff.

The same thing we do every night Pinky...

Try and take over the world!

hee hee

[identity profile] isolde-deely.livejournal.com 2005-02-06 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll be playing Champions...and rescuing a missing football team. We're the San Francisco Sentinels and the 49ers are missing. The irony is, I don't think the GM realized that today was the superbowl!

[identity profile] jalapenoman.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Some friends came over and we spent the day playing board games, and Texas Hold'em Poker. I don't think the TV was on at all today.

[identity profile] sylverwolfe.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
today was spent largely at work, from 10-6, in the warehouse tearing covers off old magazines then i came home and am catching up on lj while i sudy for my abnormal psych test that's on tuesday. and no, lj is not a case study for abnormal psych, tho it amused me to string the two separate concepts together into a sentence. :-) anyway, i'm trying pretty hard to graduate with honors, so it's just as well i only give a damn what's on tv on tuesdays and thursdays (house and csi).

Let's Try That Again

[identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
As I was saying before I messed up the HTML, so, we got the car parts out to my brother. Went back to [livejournal.com profile] huskiebear's place, made some excellent sloppy joes, MSTied about half of South Pacific, watched a couple of episodes of Gilmore Girls, shoved stuff into boxes and bags. I have clean clothes. All is right with the world.

[identity profile] vettecat.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Worked in the store, then [livejournal.com profile] sdavido and I went to dinner... took us a while to realize why the restaurant was so quiet. Soon I'll go fold laundry. Wheee!

[identity profile] rms-butterfly.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
We went out to dinner at a great place, to have an almost-a-month-late celebration of [livejournal.com profile] fuzzyvanman's birthday. It was me, him and [livejournal.com profile] catsleftpaw, his other sweetie. Then we went to Half Price Books! Much better plans than watching that game-thing.
