[livejournal.com profile] huskiebear is giving me a ride out to my brother's place today with replacement parts for my poor hapless car. Then we go back to her place; I help her clean, I do my laundry, we make sloppy joes. Dunno what we're gonna watch; I know what we're not gonna watch.

So.

What are you doing today, if you're not watching that stupid game?

I'm pretending to work, but as I have a cold not much is getting done.

Misery loves company, so I'm kinda glad I'm not alone.

I have umpteen things to do, and several books to finish (I'm less than 150 pages from the end of Quicksilver, so by now it's become a point of pride: I will finish it). But I suspect I'll wind up catching up on LJ, then watching Buffy and/or the third Gamera movie while the cats shed up my nose and dig divots in my shoulders.

I'm at work from 7P-7A, after getting home from the current shift at 10A. Sleep between, and celebrating the start of baseball season after the g/a/m/b/l/e/r/s/ football addicts have had their fix.

And listening to good music the while, of course. Except, probably, while sleeping :-)

We don't have a television, so we wouldn't be able to watch any broadcast TV live. Maybe we'll watch one of the Rumpole episodes on DVDs out from Netflix, or maybe I'll just be catching up on the mondo to-do list. Which I have yet to make up/update. (To do: (a) Make to-do list. Aiiiiiiieeeeeeee! (b) Stop sounding like Callisto.)

I've almost got this year's GaFilk Interfilk quilt wound-up and ready to ship to Kathleen.

It has been my tradition in the past to do some shopping during THAT GAME, because the stores are nearly empty. This year I have little money so if I shop it will only be at the grocery. My brother is having a game party and invited me to it because it is a ruse for his wife's 50th surprise birthday party. Since he only invited me yesterday and since I hate football I told him no. It's just as well, I'm ”not on my game” today.

SHOPPIES!

Yes, si, ja, da! I have a Williams Sonoma gift certificate burning a hole in my wallet.

That and baking Cornish Pasties As Seen On TV [1] and freezing them for an upcoming SCA camping event, Estrella War. Think sci-fi con crossed with a scout jamboree, only better dressed.

What game? Is that basketball championship thingy, the Oliver Cup, today?

I'm going to clean up the apartment a bit, then have dinner (probably roasting a duck, possibly a chicken, and making some kind of fruit tart) with [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle and watching more Babylon 5. We're in early season 5, and we're going to skip most of the telegoth arc. Then I'll load her bookshelf in her car (assuming she drives here). By the time she leaves, That Stupid Game should be over. If it's not, and I still want to watch TV, probably the Food Network has something on.

That does explain why the grocery store was crazier than usual yesterday suppose.

I'll Tivo the game, do something else for the first hour or so, and then zap through the game to watch the commercials.

Jack usually wants to watch it, so I usually clean in the general vicinity, and stop to watch the commercials. That's been our custom, anyway. It'll probably be on in his room.

In 1983, we went off during the game to watch GANDHI, figuring the theater would be less crowded. During intermission, the usher announced the score of the game. If we were interested, why wouldn't we be home watching it? Never understood what his thinking was.

In my dreams, the Eagles are driving for a game winning touchdown, time runs out, McNabb tosses the ball to a wide open TO in the endzone.. and he drops the ball.

Then the rabid squirells come as he's pelted with cans of chunky soup by Donovan McNabb's mom.

That would make me happy. Go squirells!

that stupid game

Didn't they already have a Superbowl last year? And after the trauma of having half the nation exposed to a half-second shot that might have contained a nipple, I thought the network censors would have cancelled it.

Oh, and this might come in handy.

Will probably spend the time cleaning my place, going to a movie, or attending a reading/booksigning (Lucius Shepard).

Actually, I *will* be watching "that stupid game". Mostly for the commercials. (*sigh* I miss adcritic.com.) And eating pizza. Since the two teams playing are ones I don't follow, I won't be paying close attention to the game.

What I want to know is....why is there such a huge disparity between SF fans and sports fans?

today was spent largely at work, from 10-6, in the warehouse tearing covers off old magazines then i came home and am catching up on lj while i sudy for my abnormal psych test that's on tuesday. and no, lj is not a case study for abnormal psych, tho it amused me to string the two separate concepts together into a sentence. :-) anyway, i'm trying pretty hard to graduate with honors, so it's just as well i only give a damn what's on tv on tuesdays and thursdays (house and csi).
