Excellent. I wonder if they would let FAGSROK through?

The fact that someone took the trouble to contest it is rather scary...

Gee, we wouldn't want people to drive around with activist slogans on their cars, now would we? I mean, if we let them have political license plates, the next thing you know, they'll be putting on stickers or something.

As I commented to [livejournal.com profile] hitchkitty when he reposted the link:

So the judge names the criteria as: whether a reasonable person would believe the terms ... are, themselves, offensive to good taste and decency.

This I understand. There is a tale, which I believe is factual but has moved into the realm of urban legend, about someone ordering one of Florida's first plates commemorating the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger with the text "KABOOM" on it. The state denied that plate, and for that act, I applaud them. That person was absolutely puerile, and needed a good, visible spanking.

As far as challenging pro-gay plates, I say only, "Consider the source." It's UTAH, for crying out loud. I have relatives there. I hear how f'ed up the place is. I can only say, "Consider the source."

And yet another (?) state allowed BOLOX.
