Coming Soon To A Filk Near You

Or maybe not. Some very cool, very strange musical instruments at Odd Music.

I just recorded a "crumphorn" (I think that's what its called.) at Philcon... It was an interesting intrument. Looks like a bent flute.

The person who was playing it was GOOD.

The krummhorn (or krumhorn or crumhorn) is a traditional Renaissance instrument. It's a reed instrument, and it has a much rougher, reedier sound than a flute, or even a modern reed instrument like an oboe, but I think it's an auditory treat. It's a long tube bent in the shape of a sans-serif capital J, so I suppose it sort of looks like a bent flute.

That was it. Thanks for the info. I was looking at it from across the room and on the other side of my mic stand. A couple of Tom's songs got sung by the room. (Rocket Ride and 307 ALE.) I have to go thru the 4 hours of recording I got from the open filk and see if there is anything REALLY good in there....

Some interesting songs were sung, including one I have to track down the lyrics for. I wish I had left the recording equipment up for about 3-4 more songs... Missed the members of Lady Mondegreen singing together and a song I had only heard refences to's existance. (I need to request that one again from the next filk sing I make it to.) It was even in my key... "R". (or more accurately, off.)
