GAFilk Is Out

A few things have come up, and I'm not going to be able to attend GAFilk this weekend. Damn shame, it's an excellent con. I hope you all have fun, and nosh some chopped pork and rutabaga down the street at Barbecue Kitchen, mmkay?

I'm sad to say I almost certainly won't be there. I was planning to go, but I'm about to dial in for a conference call that is almost certainly going to involve the phrase "To make this work we're going to need all of you here on Saturday and Sunday." I will be shocked if it doesn't.

A shame. It's a fun con and it's only about a 3.5 hour drive.

I'm just outside of Nashville. To get to Atlanta I drive southeast on I24 and then south on 75, passing through Chattanooga on the way.

I've lived in this area since 1988 and I still haven't gone to Chattacon. It's just one of those cons I never seem to make it to.

WorldCon is very iffy. If I can make the money work, it'd be great. But I am not currently planning to go. That may change.

You don't always get out to the east coast and I tend towards that area. (Are you going to Oasis this year? I might visit a friend in Orlando and drag them to that con and use that as an excuse to finally attend that convention.)

As for summer cons.... I figure Concertino followed by Worldcon is enough. I am seriously thinking about making it out to Confluence, but that is a serious maybe. (I have to see how the budget, time off and number of coworkers stretch closer to the date of the con.) I have to make sure I have enough time to play tourist in Montreal.

If you can swing ConFluence, do it. It's a good con, and mrgoodwraith works his ass off for the filk track.

Oasis, MarCon, BaltiCon, all off this year -- I'm going to Anime North with Anne on Memorial Day weekend.

I likely will pick up a membership as a long shot of my attending. Hopefully MrGoodwraith can take memberships @ GaFilk. (Its got a better shot of my attending than a Memorial day con since I finish house sitting that weekend and I just likely will want to be home for a change.)

Have a good time @ Anime North. I have heard recordings in the past from ConFluence from friends who have attended. (Thank you [info]filkferengi.) A key reason I am seriously thinking about the con is more of 'More Difficulties' being the filk GOH. Its really a budget and time limitation.

:D Actually, sweet as that is, a little chocolate goes a long way. I've been trying to be better with that over the last little while ... The holidays SLAMMED me for keeping up with my diet. :) But little bits are always appreciated. :)

Oh yeah. There are some cons that, once you go there, you do your best not to miss 'em. I have that with OVFF, Duckon, PenguiCon, MillenniCon (that one's easy, they keep inviting me back), InConJunction. Had it with MarCon for a long time.
