RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN Trailer

This has been out for awhile, but we haven't talked about it. I'm looking forward to it. Besides being a huge fan of The Rock, this just looks good.

Thoughts? And links to any other trailers we need to be reminded of?

Yay! I had forgotten about this. Not only was I a huge fan of the Witch Mountain movies (and made my daughter watch them a few years ago, and she loved them, too) my husband and I have a thing about Rock movies - we went and saw The Rundown because it looked SO BAD we thought it would be fun to mock, and we were pleasantly surprised.

I am all excited. It does look really good.

I like the fact that The Rock is not a "super guy" just someone wanting to help some kids. With limits and a good healthy fear of being shoot or hurt.

I read the original book and loved it. It really fitted in with "The People" books by Zenna Henderson, I had read in the same time period of my life.

Given the quality of the average remake of 70's films (particularly ones that I have a special nostalgia for), I'm dreading this one. It makes me think, "Oh, look, they're remaking one of my favorite films from childhood as an action movie with THE ROCK!" Sort of like, "Oh, look, they're taking one of my favorite childhood science fiction shows and turning it into a comedy vehicle for Will Ferrell". I can't imagine this one being better than the original in any way except for the size of the special effects budget.

I'm bad at separating movies from their source material, even when they're so far apart as to be virtually unrecognizable beyond the basic premise. And I have a certain amount of nostalgic liking for the original "Escape to Witch Mountain" movie, even though it's terrible (much like "Labyrinth"), so I'm. . .skeptical. But I think if I managed to get amnesia and forget I'd read the book/seen the movie before seeing the remake, it could be a really fun ride.

I like that the actors who played Tony and Tia both have minor roles in the film. I know that's a common enough thing with remakes these days, but I still like seeing it.

Not planning to see it, but the Rock in general usually is a good thing - he can power through even bad stuff and make it entertaining.

Well I like the Rock enough but I don't know that the change in premise does much for me, nor dos the trailer really thrill me. It looks fairly run of the mill. Now trailers can be misleading, but that's all I got to go on here =P

Though is it a remake? One site was saying this movie is suppossed to take place 30 years after "escape"

I don't expect it to rock my world, but it could be fun if done right.

Other trailers? Well, 9 (let's make that link longer, shall we?) looks intriguing.

But Astro Boy makes me nervous. They're messing with my childhood, this time. On the other hand, I looked up the director on IMDB, and he's the guy who wrote and directed Flushed Away.

And Inkheart, opening in two weeks, just might work.

I loved the orignial book...and this movie is so far from that I can't believe it. If they didn't have the name 'Witch Mountain' to connect them, I wouldn't even guess they were related.
I'm not sure I want to see this movie. I'll have to wait to see if I change my mind later.
By the way, I was not in love with the original 'Witch Mountain' movie, but it was somewhat closer to the spirit of the book than this seems to be.

This looks like a fun ride. And THE GAME PLAN is a suprisingly good movie, too. Like so much that Hollywood releases these days, I disconnect from the original plot and try to enjoy the presentation...I'll keep my fingers crossed that this doesn't insult our intelligence.

I loved the Witch Mountain movies (yes, they were not wonderful. But they were fun). I was extremely skeptical about this, what little I'd seen - Hollywood does not have a good record on remakes. But that trailer looks great! I doubt I'll go first-run, but I'm definitely seeing this one.

I can't believe that I've never read the books. I read a heck of a lot more than I watch movies, and I have read The Forgotten Door. But I never even knew there was a Witch Mountain book. Now I have to go find that...Thanks, everyone!
