Another Reason To Vote

Cancelling out your neighbors:

For those of you who can vote early, have you? (I have.)

Yes, for interesting values of "early:" I received and filled out my absentee ballot on Friday, but since that wasn't enough time to mail it back and guarantee it arriving on time, I'm dropping it off at City Hall later this morning (I'm waiting until after 9am so the roads are less rush-houry).

Voted the first Saturday of early-voting season here in Texas.

Voted 1.5 weeks ago.

It's no longer available, which stinks, because I wanted to watch it, again.

We voted last Wednesday. No lines ftw! :)

[identity profile] blienky27.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, God. I vote in NC, and it makes me sad that I know people like this.

But I voted almost three weeks ago by absentee ballot, so I'm set. I've canceled out at least one of these crazies.

Voted the second day of early voting.

Done & done.

But I don't know whether to applaud this video, or call it "negative campaigning"

I voted Saturday... in and out in about an hour, which was an unexpected side benefit of living outside the Indianapolis metropolitan area now. Small town... smaller lines! :-)

I've already sent in my absentee ballot. In just a few minutes I'm heading up to the county board of elections to pick up the poll books for the precinct I'll be supervising tomorrow. Tomorrow's going to be a very long day for me.

[identity profile] alverant.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried to vote early but the polling place had already closed by the time I got there. I'll leave early tomorrow morning and vote before leaving for work.

No early voting in New York, but I'll be canceling out my immediate neighbors when I do vote (of course, so will most of the other people in NY - I live in a reddish neighborhood in the bluest city in the bluest state.)

[identity profile] ruisseau.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No early voting in Missouri so I'm voting after classes tomorrow then heading over to the local Obama HQ to volunteer.

Going too far...

[identity profile] ladyskada.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
... Don't know if you caught this:
http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?Woman_refuses_sweets_to_pro-Obama_kids&in_article_id=384691&in_page_id=2

A woman in Michigan refused Halloween sweets to trick-or-treating children whose parents support Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, leaving some children in tears.

More reasons to vote:
Free cup of Starbucks coffee & a free Krispy Kreme donut!

I hope the early voters saved their stickers like I did LOL!

I did early voting as well. Happy to report no *obvious* evidence of effed-up-ness with the electronic machines in my hometown.

[identity profile] zellion.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Goodness, what an ad.

Husband and I spent 5.5 hours in line yesterday so we could vote early. The line was just astonishing. Now I personally never want to stand in line that long again but the fact that there were that many determined people makes me get a little teary. According to the local newspaper Saturday's line was 4 hours, not sure I want to know how long today's will be. Next time we will vote early, earlier.

My planet has mail-in ballots, and drop-off boxes where you can save the postage. Since I'm the one in my household who works downtown, I got to drop off all their ballots, and mine too, one at a time.

So I started each day last week by voting for VorBama and VorMerkley. It was very therapeutic. Like living in Chicago, only legal.

They're all safely dropped off by now. Only the results are still to come.

[identity profile] sffilk.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I sent my absentee ballot in on September 30.

[identity profile] autographedcat.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We had every intention of stopping to vote on our way home from OVFF. The early polling station was one the way, and we figured that it wouldn't too crowded on a Monday afternoon, right?

Wrong.

There was a line snaking out the door. More over, there was *nowhere* to park. [livejournal.com profile] kitanzi tried again at 4pm on Friday, and was told by someone leaving that the wait time was four hours.

So I'll be going to vote tomorrow over lunch, and hoping that the lines are shorter at the polls than the early voting stations (which they should be -- many people *have* already voted, plus there's many more neighbourhood precincts than early voting locations.

[identity profile] unclelumpy.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, originally I wasn't going to, since so-called "early voting" is just a means for the State Electoral Board to conveniently "misplace" millions of Democratic votes good and early to save their Republican masters the effort later.

But then I realized that it didn't make any difference anyway, so I figured "What the Hell?" and took the plunge.

[identity profile] ladyotterfae.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
In person absentee ballot last Thursday. (MO doesn't have 'early' voting, as such.)

Will be nail-biting time tomorrow, as I pray my state has the sense to flip (again). Stop being pink! I can't stand pink!

[identity profile] valkyrwench.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Video is no longer available. I voted the first Saturday of early voting in TX.

[identity profile] arensb.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Here in Merlin, we'll be voting on whether or not to have early voting the next time around.

If the measure doesn't pass, I might set up an all-day meeting on Nov. 2, 2010 with my colleagues at another campus, and get an absentee ballot because I'll be out of town.

[identity profile] kirylyn.livejournal.com 2008-11-03 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'm going to watch the election results via BBC America's news

hopefully not QUITE as full of bile *crosses fingers*

Vote by mail, baby.

Actually Vote By Male, since my husband took all our ballots and dropped them off at elections headquarters to avoid issues of post office and collection boxes. (No evidence of issues, but we want our votes to go directly to counting, no stops.)

Went in on the first day of early voting. In and out in ten minutes.

I just finished voting and helping set up the polling place where I'll be working. And the rover will be bringing the updated list for me to mark in the signature book. Now it's off to bed for my 5am wake up call.

Voted on Columbus Day. Hail Satan!
