Yes, for interesting values of "early:" I received and filled out my absentee ballot on Friday, but since that wasn't enough time to mail it back and guarantee it arriving on time, I'm dropping it off at City Hall later this morning (I'm waiting until after 9am so the roads are less rush-houry).

Oh, God. I vote in NC, and it makes me sad that I know people like this.

But I voted almost three weeks ago by absentee ballot, so I'm set. I've canceled out at least one of these crazies.

I've already sent in my absentee ballot. In just a few minutes I'm heading up to the county board of elections to pick up the poll books for the precinct I'll be supervising tomorrow. Tomorrow's going to be a very long day for me.

No early voting in New York, but I'll be canceling out my immediate neighbors when I do vote (of course, so will most of the other people in NY - I live in a reddish neighborhood in the bluest city in the bluest state.)

Goodness, what an ad.

Husband and I spent 5.5 hours in line yesterday so we could vote early. The line was just astonishing. Now I personally never want to stand in line that long again but the fact that there were that many determined people makes me get a little teary. According to the local newspaper Saturday's line was 4 hours, not sure I want to know how long today's will be. Next time we will vote early, earlier.

My planet has mail-in ballots, and drop-off boxes where you can save the postage. Since I'm the one in my household who works downtown, I got to drop off all their ballots, and mine too, one at a time.

So I started each day last week by voting for VorBama and VorMerkley. It was very therapeutic. Like living in Chicago, only legal.

They're all safely dropped off by now. Only the results are still to come.

You know my history with "Free F***ing Scoop Night." How many times do I have to fall for that one before I wise up?

Ben & Jerry Free Scoop Night is to me what Lucy and the football are to Charlie Brown.

If they have me canvas uptown tomorrow then maybe--MAYBE--I'll drop by there before Election HQ. Otherwise, I'm not about to leave election central early only to find they've closed.

Of course, in case anyone in my household with better ice cream karma than me and a dairy allergy is free, I'll point out that my favorite scoop of late is coconut 7 layer bar combined with chocolate therapy...

We had every intention of stopping to vote on our way home from OVFF. The early polling station was one the way, and we figured that it wouldn't too crowded on a Monday afternoon, right?

Wrong.

There was a line snaking out the door. More over, there was *nowhere* to park. [livejournal.com profile] kitanzi tried again at 4pm on Friday, and was told by someone leaving that the wait time was four hours.

So I'll be going to vote tomorrow over lunch, and hoping that the lines are shorter at the polls than the early voting stations (which they should be -- many people *have* already voted, plus there's many more neighbourhood precincts than early voting locations.

Well, originally I wasn't going to, since so-called "early voting" is just a means for the State Electoral Board to conveniently "misplace" millions of Democratic votes good and early to save their Republican masters the effort later.

But then I realized that it didn't make any difference anyway, so I figured "What the Hell?" and took the plunge.

In person absentee ballot last Thursday. (MO doesn't have 'early' voting, as such.)

There's a bug that gets you the "not available" message sometimes if you cklick on an embedded video on your friend's page.

Click thru to the comments (olr to leave a comment) and then try again and it'll load.

Here in Merlin, we'll be voting on whether or not to have early voting the next time around.

If the measure doesn't pass, I might set up an all-day meeting on Nov. 2, 2010 with my colleagues at another campus, and get an absentee ballot because I'll be out of town.

Vote by mail, baby.

Actually Vote By Male, since my husband took all our ballots and dropped them off at elections headquarters to avoid issues of post office and collection boxes. (No evidence of issues, but we want our votes to go directly to counting, no stops.)
