Well, not quite yet. But, soon, Keith Olbermann will return to the airwaves, on Current TV.

Keith Olbermann OUT at MSNBC

Holy crap.

(And, because of travel earlier in the week, I'd missed a Special Comment [video here] about the tone of political discourse, nine days after the Tucson shootings.)

Special Comment By Teh Keith

On our toxic discourse, and the unacceptability of violence. And I invoke his last lines, and I will do my best to stand by them:
Violence, or the threat of violence, has no place in our Democracy, and I apologize for and repudiate any act or any thing in my past that may have even inadvertently encouraged violence. Because for whatever else each of us may be, we all are Americans.

Your Morning Maddow, and Unsubscribing From OFA

This dKos post also links up to Keith's Special Comment from last night, but the real icing on the cake is Rachel, somewhat more quietly eviscerating the President. Things of beauty, all.

Activist Mike Stark suggests a new movement for those of us who've been subscribed to Obama's Organizing For America e-mails: unsubscribe, and when you do start your comment with "I'm a fed-up progressive" so they know it's part of the same movement. A small thing, yes, but at this point I'll try almost anything to get their damn attention.

For The Missing Keith, Your Morning Maddow

You may have noticed that Keith Olbermann was suspended indefinitely by MSNBC yesterday.

There is some debate as to whether the rules were fairly applied, as well as what might happen when MSNBC/NBC Universal's new owner, ComCast, takes over in a couple of months. (Here's some perspective from Talking Points Memo.)

What there is no debate about, however, is what Rachel Maddow said about the situation last night.

I don't know which way things are going to go... but we need at least some of the news media to be on our side.

On the Tea Party. Almost twenty minutes, but amazing. (If you start the video and mouse-over, you'll see a button for "transcript".)

A number of topics, pulled together. Media manipulation, a telling quote from The American President, and an apology to Shirley Sherrod.

Retrospect: Special Comment By Teh Keith

I was traveling yesterday, and so by the time I knew there was a Special Comment from Tuesday night, the situation commented upon had already been resolved. Nevertheless, it's fascinating to see Keith's thoughts regarding General McChrystal.

Thoughts on the whole foofrah?

When They Say "Plant"....

So, South Carolina had a Democratic Senatorial primary on Tuesday. Open primary. That is, Republicans can vote.

The primary winner, Alvin Greene, had 60% of the vote. Bully for him.

Except... he didn't seem to have a campaign web site. Or any rallies. Or literature. Or the money for the filing fee.

Some people have become suspicious.

Check him out last night on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and judge for yourself. Warning: not safe for people easily made uncomfortable by other peoples' humiliation.

Why does John McCai- oh, you know. Only two minutes long, but sometimes the short, sharp blows do the most damage.
