Haven't done one of these for awhile, but I just finished watching last night's ep, and WOW.

What do y'all think?
filkertom: (ThumbsUp)
Go wild. For what it's worth, I thought it was excellent -- a natural progression from both Avengers and Iron Man 3. Clark Gregg is simply splendid. And did you notice the Special Thanks in the credits to Jim Steranko? That's from where we got Lola.

"... Gramsie...?"

I haven't seen last night's ep yet, and may not until tomorrow, so attend any nuptials at your peril.

Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Star Trek: Into Darkness -- whatever's floating your boat.

Game Of Thrones, Doctor Who, Once Upon A Time, Iron Man 3, The Great Gatsby, whatever -- have at it.

Let fly. Those who haven't seen it yet, read this thread at your peril.

One non-spoilery thing: The acting is, top-to-bottom, great, especially RDJ and Ben Kingsley.

Another: Stay through the (very long) credits. Of course.

Another: The IMAX 3D was really cool. But you don't need it.

Right here. All I'll say is, it's about a minute of character work. By RDJ and Gwyneth. Don't want spoilers, don't watch.

Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Once Upon A Time -- whatever your video addiction, go wild.

I haven't caught up with The Doctor's adventures from last season. It's not that I don't love it no more -- it's a combination of (ha ha) time and... shall we say, a disenchantment with Steven Moffat's take on the character. It's a little difficult to care about The Doctor when he acts like a jerk teenager most of the time. Matt Smith does everything he can with it, and it's frequently more than enough... but when it isn't, I simply don't care.

However. I have to catch up, so I can quit avoiding various spoilers, and also so I can watch this year's Christmas Special. And, if you're interested, here is the prequel to it, "The Great Detective":

and the actual trailer, with the exquisite Jenna-Louise Coleman:

Holy frijoles. Serves me right for paying too much attention to politics. Last night a new season of Top Chef began.

Season Ten. Wow. And Padma's intro has me hooked from the get-go: The chefs will compete in challenges designed by, and restaurants owned by, the judges -- Hugh Acheson, Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang frickin' Puck, and of course Tom Colicchio.

Just downloaded the ep, so I'll post my reaction in comments later.

Gag reel and Loki/Barton deleted scene. I think deleting it was a good idea -- as Anne says, it's too talky -- but I'm really glad it exists, as it answers a couple of questions in the film and adds just a touch of background. Not good for movie pacing, but excellent for back story.

ETA: And the gag reel has been pulled. Sigh.
