Having a very fine time so far.

Opening Ceremonies were fun, and the guests are great. In particular, Connie Willis, Steve Perry, and Jarrod Davis rock (and of course Kathleen, but I'm biased on that one). I thought last night's set went well enough (and with the great Gerry Tyra doing sound, I'm happy and confident), and I hung out for awhile after, and talked with many nice people (including Auxiliary FuMPer Seamonkey) and sold a little, and then went to the filk panel with [livejournal.com profile] billroper, Kathleen Sloan, and Margaret Middleton. The Bedlam Bards are here, and Terri, whom I don't see much of anymore, and numerous others (haven't matched up realspace w/LJ names in many cases, please forgive).

I crapped out on the open filk -- way too tired. I hope to get a nap or two today, in between my autograph session(!) and 5:00 concert and the Cabaret (still dunno what time I'm supposed to go on, but it starts at 9:00. After that, I will be at the open filk for at least awhile.

And, this morning I went out for groceries and breakfast, and found a place called Taco Bueno that was open. Got a few really good tacos, homemade sauce, and some tasty chicken tortilla soup. Nothing fantastic, but good and filling and a little spicy and exactly what I wanted. I suspect BBQ may wait until tomorrow evening, after the con.

So how's your weekend going?

Well, other than a major setback in my plans to commit genocide on those heretical Leichtensteinians, not bad.

I'm also at FenCon and having a good time. I haven't gotten to see you yet since I'm tied up in a writer's workshop. I'm looking forward to meeting you and hearing you perform live, since I never have before.

Gerry Tyra is a good friend of mine and the whole Tyra family sound team rocks. You might see me occasionally acting as one of his A/V team slaves, er I mean assistants. My description won't really help you ID me: 6ft, big belly, dark shorts, shirt and suspenders. There are at least a dozen guys here that match that description. Ah fandom.

Ok, we are two blocks away from what is known in the DFW area as "Restaurant Row". We WILL get you something better to eat this weekend than Taco Bueno, although they are ok fast food.

See you later today.

Oh, holy crap - if you think Taco BUENO is decent, you absolutely have to find someone to direct you to a Taco CABANA.

My husband refuses to acknowledge Bueno as food, and he loves Cabana. Just to give you an idea.

Also, for BBQ, some may recommend Red Hot & Blue, and it's good stuff, but it is NOT Texas-style barbecue. It is Memphis style barbecue. I'm personally fond of Dickey's or Sonny Bryan's for Texas-style barbecue, but there are also several other joints I've not yet patronized, so don't limit yourself on my account.

I actually have access to RH&B in Michigan. And, yes, I think it's really good, but I know it's Memphis. I'm hoping to get some beef brisket. There's a place down the road, Spring Creek, which everyone says is great, so that's likely to be the target.

Today was Yom Kippur so it was expectedly quiet. I needed a day of rest, was up way too late every day this past work week. Tomorrow will be rush to do food shopping and be home before the Patriots game begins (my one sports vice, I follow the local team)

Just got home a while ago from Fencon, been a long week so I didn't want to push it and end up sick from a combo of concrud and stress. Thank you for a wonderful Saturday concert, and for playing 'Cthulhu Colada', I thought I was going to bounce out of my seat when I recognized the words. Any chance of that ending up on a mp3 or record ? *grabs a cute girl to give you big eyes*

Thanks for the laughs, and I'm glad you've had a good time in Texas.

We are on vacation in Oregon, watching trees. Please tell Gerry that Barney and Kate say "When are you coming back to San Diego?".

Weekend thus far involves an uncle's birthday, being reminded why I don't much like my mom's side of the family, Kane's birthday, and being way too helpful at work for my own good. But I has two cute kittycats finally playing tag instead of trying to kill each other, so I see it as a win. >^_^

Weekend has been up and down. Friday I got a pizza and did the Air Pirate (arrr) Strikeforce in City of Villains. (For those who don't know, a Strikeforce is when you do a bunch of missions one right after the other. You can't take a break and come back to it in the morning.) Then I stayed up until 1am watching the MiB cartoon I downloaded. My big cat Sarge wanted to share my pillow and I wound up getting like 3-4 hours of sleep. I was pretty much a wreck on Saturday but I got some good loot in City of Villains and went to bed early. Now I'm feeling better and ready for the weekend to start.

::heavy Scarlet O'Hara accent:: Oh, sir, how you do go on! ::heavy Scarlet O'Hara accent.:: You're right of course. Especially about Gerry. He really is amazing. The rest of us just short of bask in the reflected glory. ;-) I should know. I'm his wife.
