Wednesday, my surgeon gave my left leg the status "weight bearing as tolerated".

That afternoon, on several different occasions, I took a few halting steps... without the walker.

Thursday, I did some more of that. It's exhausting as hell, and I've got to be careful not to push it... but the more I do, the more I can do.

Friday, I was discharged from Imperial. Because, really, the physical therapy folks can't do anything more for me except supervise exercises I can do at home. And the nurse staff was basically giving me three pills and bad food.

However haltingly, I'm beginning to walk on my own.

And I'm doing it at home.

Where, to ice the cake nicely, I can has broadband.

-----

I have more e-mail to catch up on than anyone in the history of e-mail catching-up-on. I have orders to send out. I have a gazillion thank-yous. And, oh my, I have music to write. So I may not post as much as I likely should. And my trousers have no recourse or resource.

But.

I'm back in the saddle again.

How are you doin'?

*hug* Great to see you online again from home! Keep us posted on how things are going when you have the chance. (Though I think most of us would forgive you for making music instead. *grin*)

So glad to hear you are home again. Take it slow and easy and don't catch "Debbie's disease" trying to catch up in email and other online places.
See you at OVFF?
Many hugs.

Woo hoo! Don't overdo it, but yay for unaided walking again and yay for home!

I'm well if overworked this coming week: More projects to do, fewer resources available to do them; I'm basically covering for my coworker being out next week and doing his job as well as mine. Yay.

Home again, with broadband: priceless. Good luck with the rest of the rehab!

Busy here, trying to organize the kids' room and school stuff in advance of the school year this time around. (They start 2 September.) Aside from that, meh.

WOO HOO!!!

Just sitting here listening to the likes of [livejournal.com profile] thatcrazycajun and Joe Bethancourt and contemplating what to do with the rest of my day... I've a table to finish fixing, a studio to rearrange, and maybe a broadband company's butt to kick... but otherwise? Not too shabby.

Go you! Carefully, but go! And we may never get your trousers out of hock, but we'll make sure the shirt stays. :)

Welcome back

Too bad you had to miss World Con & stuff, but keeping people healthy seems a real good priority.

Just don't forget to walk around a bit everyday.

(Considers suggesting that Tom get a dog to take on walkies.)

Glad to hear you're making progress. Here's to continued recovery.

Not much going on here, just enjoying the rest of summer and getting the boys ready for back-to-school.

Welcome home!

Do those exercises. You'll be glad you did. </auntiemaia>

(Don't do what I did. I slacked off, and now I have tendonitis in the other shoulder.)

Things are good here, but knowing you're headed home makes them a bit better. :-) I'll pass the word to the Simmons clan.

Would that make you Robert Palmer, Texas Ranger?

I'm glad to hear your home and doing fine. I'm especially glad to hear your going to be making music again soon, because a FuMP without Tom Smith songs is like something without something else that I can't think of at the moment because I'm in a hurry to get out the door so I can go to work, but you get the idea.
