Oh man. Oh man. Stephen Hawking was rushed to the hospital today.

Be well, sir. We still need you.

Oh no!

Scarier given how much routine medical support he has.

What I can't get over is that they keep calling him a mathematician. He's a theoretical cosmologist.

I had no idea he had lived for SO LONG with ALS. That's incredible.

By most estimates he should have died years ago. Fortunately for us he has defied those odds.

I lost my dad to this. From diagnosis to death he lasted 4 years. Dr. Hawking has defied the odds. Hopefully he has willed his body to science, so that they can figure out why he has lasted so long and maybe use that information to help others live longer with the disease.

I wish him strength for the battle, recovery if possible, and a peaceful end if that is what has to be.

I've seen it suggested that he is essentially the record holder for ALS survival, a triumph of mind over matter for sure.

Lou Gehrig died of this in 1941, and some call it Lou Gehrig's disease. Leadbelly (Huddie Ledbetter) died of it in 1949.

I was fortunate enough to attend a lecture Mr. Hawking gave in Denver a few years back. It was fascinating. Am I sounding like Mr. Spock?

No, I think calling a speach by Mr Hawkings facinating is an appropriate description of it.
