I don't know when I'm going to see it, although it will certainly be by Monday. Could be later today. Talk amongst yourselves.

Date: 2009-07-17 01:56 pm (UTC)Loved the dark, gothic, tormented style of Draco.
As in the book, this is the first time I've liked Dumbledore. Hermione is too good for Ron, so the relationship is disappointing. And the romance between Harry and Ginny is disappointing because it lacks spark. Too much pining.
Snape remains magnicficent.
But it's the visuals I really loved.

Date: 2009-07-17 02:56 pm (UTC)Tom Felton as Draco is looking more and more like the man who played his father. Someone in the casting office back at the beginning surely had a great eye for bone structure, seeing how the boy would grow up.
Even if they don't really look it, these 20-year-olds are doing pretty well acting like 16. I guess they remember back that far. Pining is completely typical and Rupert in particular was good at it.
I would have edited the book down differently to try to keep it to one feature film-length, I guess. Alas.

Date: 2009-07-17 03:21 pm (UTC)Someone who loves zombie movies clearly had a hand in the cave scene with the Inferi. The whole theater jumped.
(Musical geek note: the scene with Narcissa, Bellatrix, Snape, and Wormtail felt oddly like a Sweeney Todd reunion. Helena Bonham Carter was practically in costume for Mrs. Lovett anyway - she does tattered Victorian goth very well, even if I don't care for the crazy Tim Burton hair.)

Date: 2009-07-17 04:12 pm (UTC)I like where they're going with Draco, and the next film will hopefully take him even darker places.
It was nice to see Quiddich again, and I'm looking forward to more Ginny. Hermione was stronger than I've ever seen her and I love her far more than I did in the books. Luna is perfect.
Snape! Snape! Ooooh it's a Snape... I was really hoping for more Snape, but I can never get enough Alan Rickman.

Date: 2009-07-19 01:36 am (UTC)was a bit disappointed not to see Harry's muggle family but I like the idea of Harry actually growing up and not staying cooped up in his room all summer long. (LOVED the scene in the Burrows when his trunk arrived before he did!)
I also like how they changed up HOW Harry got his hands on that Potions book, less "pure random chance"
pity there wasn't more Luna but I do like her saving Harry, and NOT Snape *shudders*
(blocks curses from Snape lovers, LOVE the ACTOR, *hate* the character! can I live now?)
Yes, Malfoy IS growing up and more like his father (but didn't he turn in the next book? been a while since I've read it)
I did note that when it comes out on DVD, I NEEED to have my 5.1 surround system working!
