First, the excellent acoustic version:

And then, the Morgan Freeman version:

Just to make sure you have a smile today. :)

So what have you got today that will bring a smile? A joke, a nice thought, a song, a pretty picture. Go for it.

Over the past few weeks, I've been reading a lot of my great-uncle Richard Sharpe Shaver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Sharpe_Shaver)'s writings in preparation for writing my own story set in his world. (It's Public Domain; believe me I checked!)

One of the things he said in a forward was that he didn't mind people making puns about his name, because it made them smile. He liked making other people smile, and I've always tried to do the same.

Yes. This. Still think Mr. Smith does a fine job with this song. One of my favorites of his.

Pray for You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atBg9zLI2bA), by Jaron and The Long Road to Love.

It takes a minute to get good, but it's worth the minute.

And I have just discovered that I can't listen to this song anymore without automatically replacing the lyrics so that I'm hearing "Five Years."

You know what would make that even better?

Replacing Shatner with Montalban in the third panel, and adjusting the fourth appropriately.

:D

Well...after listening to this enough times, I can't hear One Week anymore. I hear the song and start filling in Five Years. :D

I have... a backing vocals spot in a karaoke project. It's not ready for prime time yet, but when it is... look out, mudkips... :)

It's been ten years since it's been 5 years. :P :) (I feel old.)

Side note: +1 to all the folks that are saying that the lyrics from "Five Years" have earwormed me more than those of the original. :)

Station hear in Detroit, WYCD (www.wycd.com), got them to make one up for Detroit's former mayor, Kwamme Kilpatrick. It might still be on their web page.

Otherwise stated, it's been five years since it's been five years since they sang Five Years for the first time.

That was good.
After reading an absolutely rotten story about a cat needing a home and being tormented by idiots, I needed something to make me not think of that for a moment.

If I wasn't such a Barenaked Ladies nut (um....ding) I'm sure it would to me. But I've listened to BNL and seen their lives shows enough that I can only think their lyrics.

That's great. I especially love the look at the end. That "Oh you did NOT!" look the pink one gets.

This makes me grin....
