Herbert in 1920, Stine in 1943.

Any favorite works by either? I admit to being completely unfamiliar with Stine's work; just never got around to 'em. I also admit to not being a fan of the Dune series. The first book of the series, though, I must have read fifty times, and I've completely destroyed two paperback copies from wearing them out.

That stench in the air is desperation.

Ready for three frankly amazing videos? First is from This Week With George Stephanopoulos, wherein Rahm Emanuel dismembers Adam Putnam (who filled in for no-show Rep. Tom Reynolds). (Warning: This one is almost twelve minutes. The other two are only a couple of minutes each. But I promise you it's worth it.)

Next is Wolf Blitzer -- Wolf Blitzer! -- smacking down Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), who has been gung-ho on the ludicrous "vast left-wing conspiracy" theory.

And then, also from This Week, the scales fall from Cokie Roberts' eyes.
