Better, stronger, faster

Just a quick update. The repair surgery is today, most likely early afternoon. Everything proceeds after that, so I really can't tell you anything more right now. Ideally everything will go well and I'll give you an update tomorrow (I do wish they wouldn't give you the "Oh by the way, you may die from anesthesia" riff). Those of you who have my cell phone number, please do not call tonight or tomorrow. I promise I will get to you! I just can't be answering the phone all the time. Lots of medical techs coming through and the like.

I love you all so much. Thank you again, more than I really can say.

Here we go....

I (and Da Bear) just left Tom on his way to the OR. They aren't anticipating any problems and he should be out of surgery by about 2-3pm and out of recovery by 5-6. I'm posting from the net terminals in the family waiting room, so I can't guarantee my access, but I'll try to reply here when he's out and resting comfortably. 

He read all your posts just before they took him down to the waiting area and I think it really helped him to know how many people are out there pulling for him. I thank you for all your thoughts for him as well as me. We got a great community here and the bestest friends ever.

He's outta there

Just talked to the doc. The surgery went fine - it was indeed a torn quad - and he's on his way to recovery as I type. I should be able to talk to him in 1-2 hours. Expect him to be out of touch for a few days (I'll do my best at delivering messages, but I'm pretty wiped out right now myself) and out of commission physically for a couple more months. I'm sure he'll have something to say to y'all tomorrow, if not before.
