I sense, perhaps, some slight annoyance on his part. I'm not sure where I'm getting that from..
Being in a country that the American right claims euthanizes seniors on their 55th birthday or whatever, I look forward to seeing this one, and hope he actually makes use of the word "lie" about the health-care-is-ebil crowd. (The strongest I've seen so far is "outright distortions," which is such an awkward phrase that it feels badly edited from on high.)
I'm pretty sure it's because the Villagers, the various pundits and politicians, fancy themselves ladies and gentlemen, and one doesn't do anything so gauche as to call a lie, a lie. "Outright distortion", "fabrication", "not quite accurate about his/her facts", etc., etc., etc. Rather than call someone a liar, which would tarnish both the liar... and the person who said it.
Yeah, I figured it was a combination of that and the standard fear of lawsuits that drives western civilization nowadays.
Even so, if something is utterly demonstrably false (like the claims about Canadian forced euthanasia), I wouldn't mind seeing someone with a soapbox larger than the average blog use and defend the word. The innuendo, youknowwhatImeaning, and general arguing by implication is a bit tiring after a few decades.
