Off To ConStruct-A-Con

In town and everything. Right around the corner from where I shop, actually, and just down the street from Zingerman's Roadhouse, which is a pretty expensive (albeit very good) sit-down restaurant but they've got a trailer out front, the Roadshow, which sells amazing whole-hog pulled pork barbecue sandwiches with an Eastern North Carolina vinegar sauce for less than six bucks including mustard slaw.

My Saturday afternoon concert was scheduled for 11:00 p.m., which will not happen because I will be in bed. So I'm going to perform at 5:00 p.m. Who's gonna be there? Or, if you're not there, what's your weekend looking like?

Well, clearly, I am not there... but my weekend is looking like my first "off" weekend in weeks. I'm apparently missing a high school reunion that I only just learned about two hours ago via someone's Facebook status update, and since this is the second time this has happened, I think that I have recourse but to use my large-event-planning skills and hijack the next one. (Or, get all rich and famous so that they want me there but I have to OH so regrettably turn them down. (; )

This morning was getting the car's oil changed, getting the water softener resalted, and managing to miss buying (at the second grocery store in as many days) the one major ingredient I need for the nachos I'm planning on cooking for dinner eventually. This afternoon looks like laundry (first load is in the washer now).

I suspect I would enjoy the concert were I to attend. I'm not sure I will attend, though, as it looks as if I would have to pay a full weekend's con membership to do so — and as it'd be the only event I went to, and suspecting that the money goes to the concom and hotel and not to the performer, it seems... an unwise use of my limited cash. :/ Eh, I've got 3 hours to make up my mind.

I have to say, the con committee must have scheduled you without your knowledge or consent. 11 PM? That'd be fine for a Rocky Horror Live Cast show, or maybe a panel for "I Remember The Filthiest Manga I Ever Read," but not for a performance requiring audience attention and intelligence.

I daresay that you could write some heartfelt advice to con organizers about mistakes they make in scheduling and treatment of guests. Whether they would follow it or not is another question, but at least you'd have a document you could point to and say "Didn't you know about THIS???"
