Unfortunately, the new Doctor Who wasn't on up here, but I did get to watch the movie Event Horizon in its time slot...

You should torrent the Brittish one as soon as it plays there. BBC America cuts about 5 minutes of the show from their airings. For instance: 11's first episode, with Prisoner Zero? They cut the bit with Zero warning the Doctor that "Silence will fall."

How few seasons of Moffatt can we possibly get away with? Please? Pretty please with a scarf and a question-mark umbrella on top?

Some things are looking mightily likely: The Doctor's Ganger was the one who was shot in the opening of the season; the little girl is quite likely River Song (though whether she's Amy's daughter, or another Time Lady, like the Rani, is still uncertain); there's some manipulation going on in several directions.

The Doctor needs to practice what he preaches. (Having defended the Gangers as alive, he proceeds to melt Pond's brutally and with malice aforethought. If he'd established that that Ganger wasn't actually alive, but still a puppet, as they were originally claimed to be, it'd be different. He didn't.)

And, confirmed at the BBC, next ep (the summer cliffhanger), gives us Silurians, Sontarans, and Cybermen -- oh my!

BTW, if I may put in a plug, we just received some ordered merch from Doctor Mew's Cafepress store and it's Teh Awesome. (She's the one who did the cat I use as a Doctor Who usericon.) Go support her! (And I need to remember to see if she'll add the hat to Seven the way she just added glasses to Ten...)

I didn't hate it, but I don't love it either.

Smith just isn't my Doctor.

And Moffatt has gone beyond my tolerance for convolution.

It's the punishment for watching them legally. And part of what got me over the whole, "I'll only watch it when it's available legally" thing.

I'm excited for the season finale but this half season, with the exception of Gaiman's episode, really underwhelmed me. :/

He *did* establish that Fake Amy was puppeted - by Real!Amy, atthat, as he made of a point of telling Real!Amy that "we're coming for you." He made it clear that the entire adventure was about figuring out how the Flesh worked, and how he could cut the connection between the operator and the Flesh puppet. Then he used the sonic screwdriver to cut the connection, and Flesh!Amy lost cohesion as a result. Cut strings, puppet fall down go splash.

The other Gangers were more or less a special case -- they weren't puppeted any longer, but instead had a complete copy of the operating intelligence. In computer terms, they'd become independent workstations as opposed to terminals run from a remote server.

I'm pretty much dreading the half-season finale, because they're going for finale overkill, a cliffhanger, and supposedly revealing who River really is, which at this point is going to be utterly underwhelming, I'm sure.

I have to say, the revelations in this episode probably make up for the rest of it being rubbish. Wasn't expecting Ganger Amy at all.

I still don't buy the theory of the Dead Doctor being a Ganger. However, I think we'll find that the little girl is River, and subsequently Amy's child.

Good to see Matt Smith finally playing a more serious (And potentially frightening) Doctor. I want to believe that the next episode's title, 'A Good Man Goes To War', refers to Rory searching for his wife. However, I think we're about to see the same side of the Doctor that won the Time War with double genocide.

Fortunately, I don't have to settle for BBC America. I got to see that scene, and I got to see the musical number back when the Master took over the world with the help of the "Toklophane"...
I watch it on Space, the Canadian Science Fiction channel.
