Last night was the much ballyhooed concert celebrating ten years of the William J. Clinton Foundation. Why was it much ballyhooed?

Because it frickin' rocked, that's why.

Starting with Stevie Wonder singing "Sir Duke" and ending with the entire Hollywood Bowl singing "Happy Birthday" to the Big Dog, it was almost four hours of wow. And, as of yesterday, I am a fan of Usher and Grace Potter, of whom I had not heard, and even more of a fan of Wonder and Kenny Chesney and Bono and the Edge, and I am utterly mystified by the people who not only don't think Lady Gaga is pretty damned awesome, but somehow think she's a man. I digress.

Anyway, click the link up top if you'd like to see the entire thing streaming. It's a whole lotta feelgood.

Lady Gaga has some roots in the folk music world. Her previous career as Stefani Germanotta was remarkable, yet not as financially successful. I like her music, I own her cds, and I, for one, have no objection to artists who reinvent themselves. To me, finding one's own identity as opposed to blindly accepting the identity imposed by society is an important aspect of creativity.

Born This Way? Yes. Now why won't people believe I've been a visually impaired dessert-topped Norwegian rodent blues singer since birth? It's all true.

I'm not sure why people think Lady Gaga is biologically male, but I do know she makes a pretty hot guy (http://backseatcuddler.com/2010/07/01/75470/). (I have a weakness for androgyny.)

Thanks for pointing this out Tom. I'm about 2 hours into it and other than K'naan, the music has been great! I couldn't understand a word of the lyrics but Juanes seriously rocked! Looking forward to the rest of it!

Thanks for the link!

In 2003, I went to Little Rock for the "topping out" ceremony at the Clinton Presidential Library; a friend got a group of us VIP tickets, so we were right up next to the dais. President Clinton gave a speech about how "public service" means service. His actions since leaving office show he really believes that. Why does he not have a Nobel Peace Prize?
