Okay, this will make you feel old and young again at the same time. It didn't occur to me that there might be an official page for Jeff Wayne's classic rock musical.

But the really really cool thing is that there is a new version for presentation in theaters, debuting next year, starring Liam Neeson as the Narrator -- in holographic form.

And a Martian tripod, blasting the audience with a heat ray.

This is gonna be so cool.

I liked playing Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds on my drive down to OVFF. Great venue for a long-form piece of music. Also I would start seeing Red Weed along the roadside (remember it's the end of October) by about the time the story was talking about the Red Weed.

I spent about 20 years looking for this when I heard most of it on the radio one night. I squeed when I found the CDs a few years ago. Of course, a week after I finally found the CDs, someone posted the MP3s of it online :-) I can't wait to see this when it comes to my area!! CD 1 of the 2 CD set is still one of my "I'm feeling depressed, I need to fix that" cures (plus Brave New World from CD 2. I'm sorry, but Red Weed goes on WAY too long, it kills the mood of CD 2).

Edit: oops, I was thinking this was a filmed version coming to movie theaters. Since I live on the U.S. and the stage tour is over in Europe, the chances of my seeing this are between slim and none. Oh well, I can still dream.

That sounds awesome. My dad and I have seen the live stage show twice, so I hope this comes to our neck of the woods.

On the FB page they talk about how they want the DVD to come out in the US, but Universal is blocking it for some reason.

There has been A War of the Worlds theatre production touring the UK for the last few years, with a Richard Burton hololgram as the narrator. They also mastered CD versions of the show available for collection afterwards.

Oh, fantastic! I've got the original on CD (although I will admit my first thought on seeing in the store was "H.G. must be spinning in his grave." - it took me a few years to understand the coolness that it is), and it made great traveling music while Minstrosity was driving to a gig.

I did note on the website that it speaks of an international stadium tour beginning in November 2012. Hopefully it will turn up in a venue I can get to.

And Liam as the Narrator? Awesomesauce!!!
