Until the Apocalypse.

What would you do, if you knew the end of the world was coming within, say, a day? I'd do everything I could to get to friends and family. And there would be a lot of barbecue and pizza, because, hey.

Offering up sacrifices and chants to dread Cthulhu, in the hopes that I'd be eaten first.

Hey, now - doesn't it depend on the FLAVOR of the apocalypse?

Well, it's Mayan, so obviously the flavor is chocolate. Very dark chocolate.

I'd blow all my cash going back to Israel and die with the smell of Yerushalmi lavender and thyme in my nose...and as many pareve chocolate brownies as I could manage in my mouth. :)

I'd try to prevent it. To quote Lister, "I'm leaving this world the same way I came in, kicking and screaming."

Off topic, I hate all this end of the world talk. Not because I fear death (which I do) but because someone may try to make it actually happen. For example there are people who only support Israel because they think it's necessary for the second coming of Jesus and with it the apocalypse. Let me repeat that, they are trying to bring about the end of the world according to their religious beliefs. And do you know what could likely happen if they fail? They may go to more extreme measures like nukes.

Of course that's just a few people (albeit people with no small amount of power), what's worse are those who think the world will end soon so they don't have to worry about the future. Reagan era Secretary of the Interior, Watt, didn't care about conserving natural resources because he "knew" the Rapture would happen in a few years. Anyone who thinks the end of the world will happen within their lifetime and sees it as a good thing should be kept out of power.

I'm with you on the friends and family contacting. Choice of food might be different but good pizza might definitely make it into my list. I also think I would listen to some favorite music, watch a favorite movie and/or tv show and reread a favorite book.

Truly I'm torn between discovering something new over returning to something loved, but I suppose that's the lesson to be taken. Since you never know maybe live a mixture of the two in ways that make you happy and work for you through the days of our lives that we have dealt us - however that ends up. :)

Assuming it's unavoidable?

I don't think you would want my answer to this...

If preventable, then I would be working to prevent it.
if unpreventable, but not all-encompassing, then I would build a shelter for myself and as many people, books, frozen seeds & foetuses as possible.

If all encompassing and unpreventable then I'd go down with as much style as I could manage, recording the details in the faint hope that someone in the far distant future would find the data informative and useful.
