Mornin', gang. I am in the process of rebuilding my computer (DVD drive problems, I got virused, problems with the firewall eating processor time, you name it), so the update won't be until later today. Until then, have fun -- and have fun after that, as well. :)

A couple different posters on a thread at Pandagon (http://www.pandagon.net/) highlighted this bizarre revelation described by Ron Suskind (http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/chris/2004_04.html#005234).

Ew, virused. I'm at college, and we've got another one floating through the entire network. I feel the pain.

There's a reason I run a *hardware* firewall.

The software one I run as a second line of defense is very configurable, and lets me decide what to block pass. It doesn't eat that much CPU. Wish I could say the same about stuff like Norton AV.

Don't click the links below unless you're ready for something really depressing, something which should get you sick at heart and blood boiling and frickin' pissed off at our monstrous "leaders".

Seems to be just an occasional glitch of Zone Alarm. I had to stop it and restart it, and all is good now.

A hardware firewall may be in the cards someday, but money is a little tight and I have to pick and choose where it goes. On the other hand, what I just spent for a Plextor DVD writer is already worth it -- stable, better software, and fast.

Thanks. Everything seems to be going very smoothly, after the virus got nailed. Gods willing and the creek don't rise, I should have this sucker all spiffed up (and BACKED up) by this afternoon.

We gave up on Zonealarm. It's got several nasty habits.

I've been using Tiny Personal Firewall, though it's been replaced renamed (something that starts with a K...)

Aha! Kerio Personal Firewall seems to be the new name.
