The Multiverse of Tommy Westphall

Before I get too deep into Stuff (finally finishing the bonus track for And They Say I've Got Talent [which I think you'll all like], working on Fenton), I've got a couple of fun things to throw at you.

First is Tommy Westphall: A Multiverse Explored (http://home.vicnet.net.au/~kwgow/crossovers.html), which links together one hundred sixty-four TV series by guest-crossovers, and proves that, since St. Elsewhere was an autistic child's fantasy, none of the other series exists either.

Red Beans And Rice On Monday

And the other is warm-you-up recipes. It's supposed to get down to 27 degrees tonight in S.E. Michigan, and I'm breaking out the chili. (I also have this nifty classic from Tabasco.com (http://www.tabasco.com/taste_tent/recipes/recipe.cfm?id=252).) I've got Thai Kitchen Roasted Garlic Soup (http://p2.hostingprod.com/@thaikitchen.com/soupbowls.html#), I've got Old El Paso Garden Pepper Salsa (http://www.bettycrocker.com/products/prod_oldelpaso.asp), I've even got Skyline frozen Chili Spaghetti (http://www.skylinechili.com/).

So... how are you clearing out your sinuses today?

It didn't clear my sinuses, but it did boggle my mind when I saw this actual headline in my local paper:

Corpse-abuse suspect had dark side, Web data reveals

Well, duh!

Gah. My head is exploding.

Folks on the Right are now getting their knickers all twisted into a knot because Kerry brought... a PEN to the podium at the debate.

Yessiree Bob. A pen.

Because there's no way Kerry could have beaten Bush if he hadn't had his lucky Montblanc at the podium.

Weren't they both jotting down notes, each as the other one spoke? I could've sworm I saw Dubya making a note or two as Kerry was speaking. Wasn't aware that something like that was against the rules.

Yes, but apparently, bringing your own pen was against the rules. Any pens or paper had to be given to the people running the debate, so that they could then place them on the podium.

I maintain that if Kerry had kept his gaze fixed on Dubya while stage-whispering "Open Channel D" to the pen, Dubya would've spontaneously combusted. His last words: "KARL! He's got one, too! Kar - hhhkkkh"

Newspeak, here and now

Go here:

for a good analysis of how the word "patriotism" is being redefined and debased.

After reading a thread elsewhere about "barley clothed models", "barley legal Asian teens" and similar phrases, I thought perhaps some enterprising filker might like to write John Barleyporn.

Not you (Tom), of course. We already know that you're always in good taste, never surf for pr0n, and wouldn't touch a pun with a ten-foot pole.

There were three spams, came out of the west,
Our pockets for to pick.
And these three spams had subject lines
That were sure to make you sick.

That reminds me of the time I mentioned the song "Four and twenty virgins came down from Inverness" and a friend responded, "What was that about virgins on the Internet?"

I don't believe this... I've been WAITING and WAITING for you to finally start up another open-thread instead of another political rambling to slowly drain away what little faith in humanity I have left... And now that you have...

I can't think of a damn thing to say!

So... y'into Dr. Who at all?
From: [identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com
In fact, I just yesterday got my DVD-R of the classic Toho suckfest King Kong Escapes (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061868/). Not the best video quality, but the audio is good, and that audio features Paul Frees as the voice of the mad scientist Dr. Huu (spelled "Dr. Who" in the American credits).

That' not Who you meant, is it?

Actually, I think "King Kong Escapes" wasn't Toho. I think it was produced by Rankin/Bass, during their short-lived foray into live action.

Oh, I remember you saying you based your Peter lorre impression on Frees' recording of "Lover Return to Me".

Did you know he also did a cover of "Momma Told Me Not To Come" impersonating W.C. Fields?

The back of my other copy, the imported Japanese one, says: Copyright 1967, Toho Co., Ltd. Rankin/Bass did the animated King Kong TV series.

And I used his Lorre from "My Old Flame".

And, no, I didn't know that. That sounds like a hoot. :)
