You may agree with my politics. You may not. And I admit that this particular video has an obvious anti-Bush bias to its title cards.

But you have got to see this video, showing the difference in speaking style and ability between George W. Bush... and George W. Bush ten years ago.

It's staggering.

"Staggering" isn't even the word.

That video makes me see the guy in a whole new light. Gods, I feel sorry for him. If I realized that was happening to me, I'd kill myself.

Doesn't change my opinion of his suitability for his present office one iota.

I blame the drugs R/a/s/p/u/t/i/n Karl Rove has been force-feeding him.

I'd seen some more of this footage earlier. I did notice some stumbles in the earlier footage, but certainly not the bumbling booby we saw in the first debate.

Is it dementia, or alcohol?

Given his history, what makes you think it was "force-feeding"?

"Permitting" is the word I have heard bandied about, recently. I'm not convinced -- but seeing this, I'm less certain.

What gets me is this: I've been grumbling for years that Dubya is a puppet to his friends, his corporate interests, an elite clique.

But I've always believed him willingly complicit.

The idea that we could conceivably have not one but two presidents with senile dementia within a generation disturbs me profoundly on so many levels that I shudder to consider it for very long.

What about the idea that a certain segment of the population reveres those two men more than any other presidents?

As I understand it: Presenile dementia (ICD code 290.1) is a delayed onset disease, roughtly equivalent to senile dementia, except that it occurs before age 65. Even so delay from insult to onset can be years or even decades. It is claimed that alcohol abuse and/or substance abuse earlier in life, even if terminated, may cause presenile dementia. The prognosis generally is that the symptoms worsen over time, although there have been cases of spontaneous remission.

Now, I am not a doctor. I don't play one on TV.

But is the job of President really getting to W. or is he sick? I'd really like to know — I think the American people deserve that their President have a very thorough physical exam, and a cranial CAT-scan wouldn't be that expensive, would it?

And what is it with Republicans and mentally off candidates, anyway?

Are there any Democratic candidates/officeholders with similar strangenesses?

Apparently, Mr. Bush has put off his annual physical until after the campaign - from what I understand he would normally have it August. Fascinating...

Yeah, well, that's a big part of what I don't want to think about for too long.

Dunno, but thanks for the link; Bunning has lost my vote. (Down at college, so it's hard to follow all that's necessary for local politics--would change to where I live, but I prefer keeping residence at parents'.)

Yeah, well someone who's lost in a brainfog is going to be a lot easier to control as a puppet...

Hmm, I wonder if this apparent dementia is organic or might be delibratly induced ? [ok that idea's up there with the tinfoil hat brigade.]

W. is speculated to have pre-senile dementia. But that's a nit-pick. In the older video is that W's grammar is still poor, he's lying and promulgating destructive policy. But he's there. In the second, he's much less so.

Do we think about poison as a serious possibility?

Or perhaps Cheney is vampirizing him...
