Thank gods. NASA's incompetance and the greed of the aerospace companies hasn't killed another crew. With the shuttle fleet grounded ("fleet," ha, what are there left, two?), maybe that won't happen again with this aged technology.

I'm all for manned space flight, but not on a rickety rocket with a worse safety record than a 70 year old roller coaster.

I think I prefer the Beeb's account. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4134986.stm)

I do love getting my news in bed in the morning... was awakened by the POM-POM of the sonic boom. By the time I pried my eyes open and turned on CNN, it was down safely. *whew*

Agreed about aged technology. How many of the decision-makers drive the fast lane in a 30-year-old car?

Well, maybe we could actually provide enough funding to make our space program more than a laughing stock if we weren't using all our money to blow up Iraqis.
