Save Reading Rainbow

filkertomY'see, this is Example #4,907,831 of certain powers-that-be in this country wanting to keep people stupid. Reading Rainbow has been helping children learn not only to read but to love reading for a quarter century. And they still have to beg for donations and support, and now it's at the point where they don't have funds to create new episodes.
Literacy is the single most important mechanical element in education. Getting kids to love learning is equally important, but, once you've instilled that love, you have to give them tools to learn on their own.
An inability to read means being almost completely shut out of our world's knowledge and information systems.
