American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks Signs Record DealUmmm... isn't that the point? Wasn't that the prize? Most of all, why is the Associated Press telling us this as if it's news!?

Date: 2006-06-01 05:59 am (UTC)It's not news, it's an entertainment story. Nothing in that section is actually news. A story about who won a contest on a very popular TV show is no less relevant than a story about what TV shows will be on next season, or what movie stars got married. The fact that the media collectively spend more airtime/print space/whatever resources on these stories than they do on what our elected officials are doing to the country is something to rant about.
