I hate summer colds.

The "cold" is almost inconsequential, but the cough is rippin' my throat out, and there's not much I seem to be able to do about it. Miraculously, last night was quiet and restful, a stark contrast from the previous three... but then this morning I was hacking like the Slashdot guys.

So, I will try to be very, very gentle with my voice for the weekend. InConJunction is next weekend, and I will be ready to roll.

On other fronts, I saw Cars yesterday. If you haven't got to it, lots of fun. And stay through the freakin' credits, all right? Jeez. People were leaving as soon as the main film ended, and Anne & I just stared at them. It's a Pixar film, ya stay.

I may get to Superman Returns this weekend. May not. We'll see.

And, traffic is already fun in S.E. MI -- some people apparently started going out of town yesterday for the Fourth, and many have taken all of next week off.

How's your weekend looking?

Tomorrow night we'll be attending Rhythm and Booms (http://www.rhythmandbooms.com), a huge fireworks display that draws about 250,000 spectators. We haven't gone since before our daughter was born and she's almost 10 now. We usually visit some friends in northeastern Wisconsin, but they're not having their usual party this year, so we can finally see Rhythm and Booms again.

I have a cold too. Which is making me weep because I finally got my 2 months delayed shipment of BPAL imps, but I can't smell them. But it's not kicking my ass near as much as the same cold would be in the cold and damp winter, for which I'm thankful

How's my weekend look? Get off work at 5, go home. Rehearsal tomorrow (usually on Sunday, but...). Host dinner tomorrow night for a couple of friends. [livejournal.com profile] tarsa heads to SE MI *early* Sunday morning for friends' wedding on Monday. What about me? I get to go to work on Monday. :-Þ She comes back Tuesday. I have the dog and three cats for companionship for three days, and at that, a friend comes over on Monday around lunchtime to let him out of his kennel for a couple of hours.

*Real* exciting, yeah...

SUPERMAN RETURNS has no cookie at the end. So don't feel constrained to stay through the credits if you don't want to.

The next upcoming movie you need to see is the new Ivan Reitman comedy, MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND. Seeing a sneak of this the night after the Superman opening just added to the experience. Real screwball comedy with a Super twist! And these credits you need to watch, although there is some possibility they may change it all in the next three weeks before opening.

My weekend: SCA in scorching weather, I may come late to tourney. No day off on Monday, baww! A choice of fireworks displays on ID4, I may find a place up in the hills and watch several at the same time.

How's your weekend looking?

Quiet compared to a week of visiting friends from out of town. Probably going to go over to some friends on the 4th to cook up some ribs we got from Angel Food Ministries (http://www.angelfoodministries.com) then go out to Presque Isle State Park or Waldemeer Park(weather permitting) to watch fireworks. Hopefully next weekend is cooler and less rainy and huid than this past week has been.

Good luck with the cold.

Moving, again, for the second time in two months. Not much celebrating going on!

Hey, do you(uns) have any reason to be in Kentucky anytime soon? I just posted recently about the niftykeen bluegrass sessions in the park that go on down here every Thursday night. I don't know if you're interested, but it's a chance to hear it done by the real deal, not scary corporate country singers. It's way fun. If you're ever down this way, I'd love to take you there!

hoping the traffic issues STAY near SE MI....tomorrow morning we're heading from Chicago to W MI (Whitehall/Muskegon) and then crossing the state to Saginaw. And then get to recross the state either Sunday or Monday AM.

Get well soon!

One word... "Benadryl"!

Also, I'll be God-damned before I pay good money to see a film that glorifies NasCar and and stars that racist, homophobic, jingoistic douchebag "Larry the Cable Guy"! The fact that this man is popular at all serves as a perfect example of everything that's wrong with this country today!

Yeegods, seems like everyone's got a cold this week. My gf and I were thinking that it might have been the 30-degree-in-12-hour temperature drop that hit us Monday night here in Seattle, but obviously that's not an explanation for everyone.

Relaxing for most of it... Recording session #4 for Kathy Sands 2nd and 3rd CDs is tentatively planned for tomorrow.. Hopefully one of them will be out for Worldcon (if not, sometime in the fall for both. Permissions and figuring out song order for both of them are the main issues I know about (beyond cleanup of recordings from session 3). I am just the technician on the project.) Hopefully we will finish HorseTamer's Daughter for one of the CDs this weekend.

Well...besides having to clean the house I'm going to try and get my old flat-bottom jon-boat onto the lake tomorrow and do some quiet fishing.

Beyond that I really don't know nor care. I think just this one weekend I'm going to blow off anything that isn't on fire, about to kill us, or otherwise immediately ruin my family's life.

I may or may not get to Superman this weekend but I'll probably try.

On top of everything else a good friend of mine handed the first book in The Dresden Files (http://shorterlink.org/842) by Jim Butcher.

Of course I'm immediately sucked into it and will probably have to get revenge on my friend due to me suddenly having to spend massive amounts of money catching up on a new-to-me series. ;-) (Thank goodness for used books from Amazon...)

Apparently I'm going to take the 6 year old to see a late show of "Cars" tonight...or maybe catch a late matinee. Today. And staying through the credits, of course. Over the weekend it's a trip to KC for furniture and house stuff acquisition...perhaps a fishing trip to Smithville Lake.

I'm doing the same as every other weekend this year. Spend some time learning more html and actionscript so my chances of finding a job improve ever so slightly, talk and game with friends over the net (no local friends, too busy trying to find a job to make any in the Seattle area, so all of my friends are scattered around the world), and watch more videos.

*sigh*

Good to hear from you, and nice to see a lengthy post that has nothing to do with politics. My weekend: Saturday night gig; as usual, it's at a bar that allows smoking, so Louie won't be there, but they expect somewhat of a crowd (and the club and my band are listed in today's newspaper.) People around here expect a really bad weekend for auto accidents, so I'm going to have to be really, really careful driving home from the club during bar rush. And right now I'm going to call my supervisor and find out if I have Monday off or Tuesday off. Louie and I are chopping some kindling to use for an outdoor barbecue, but haven't scheduled the barbecue itself yet.

I appreciate the offer, and I will in fact be down there for ConGlomeration (http://www.conglomeration.org/). However, I will thank you kindly but decline. Schedule considerations make it kinda tricky. And, honestly, between public radio, Folk Alley (http://www.folkalley.com/), and The Ark (http://www.theark.org/), I can find me my bluegrass when I needs it. ;)

I will be Westerconing!! I am in charge of filking and concerts. I also will providing sound for the masquerade and some of the dances. Tonight it's set the art show and such time.

My beautiful wife, lapislaz" (http://lapislaz.livejournal.com/) has made a wonderful low carb beef stew for us to feast on this weekend. We live 10 minutes from the con, and will be commuting. (And we don't have a pet sitter this weekend. )We are saving our funds for Worldcon in August.

I will be maintaining my unusual schedule of sleeping mornings and early afternoons and being active evenings and nights, because next week I'm on evening training and then I have to transition pretty rapidly to nights--just a twenty four hour layover between the end of my last training shift and the beginning of my first actual work day. Feh. I will also be working on 4 July--but at least I get time and a half for that.

Having survived my first 40-hour work week in a really long time (the last job I had was only 30 hours a week), I'm going to be splitting the uncommitted time this weekend between some relaxation and trying to make a little headway on the ever-increasing mound of stuff that needs to get done.

And maybe I'll drop in briefly on my 25th high school reunion.

My favorite home remedy for coughs is to mix together equal amounts of honey, lemon juice, and bourbon (preferably Jim Beam). And if you really want to mellow out, just add a little more Jim Beam . . .
