Since my name is Robert, I shall model myself forthwith on that well-known captain of industry, the Dread Pirate Roberts, whose elocution is as preciese as his style. :)
Yarr, I'll go down to the nearest Marina and surely steal one of the finest speedsters they've got going. Then I'll take on one of the many Oil Tankers in Lake Ontario and knock 'em cold and claim the booty in the warm ports of Havana Cuba where I'll sell it for a premium to the Castro Communist REgime and retire happily in a land of bouncy marsupials.... AUSTRALIA!
I've got Talk Like A Pirate Day playing from that fine cd "And They Say I've Got Talent", me Dean has run two pirate flags from our main masts and me other shipmates are rigged up in our garb including hats, coats, and all sorts of folderol.
A'home, this mornin', we blasted "Talk Like A Pirate Day" as I laced me proud beauty up in her corset (part of her piratical wenchwear, which she's bin allowed to wear while jobbin'!), and then 'twas one o'the first songs to come up on me iPod at work.
An' I wore me pirate hat to th'team's mornin' meetin', and inspired another of me fellow swabs to make his status report in pirate-speak.
I be eating spaghetti and dressing me booty warmly! Shiver me timbers, all this increased pirate activity (http://www.venganza.org/2006/09/19/talk-like-a-pirate-day.htm) is doing something about global warming!
I be laid up in port with a bum timber, though perhaps the crutch do add a bit o' atmosphere to the proceedings. And o'course I be wearing a bit o'cursed Aztec gold. No grog for me, matey. Much though I be likin' the taste o' rum, it do tend to get arugmentative-like when ibuprofen be on board.
Avast, me job don't lend itself very well to the fine talk o' the pirates. (I work at an emissions testing station so many of my customers aren't in the best of moods, don't speak much english, or both.) I did take note of one fine young lass though, that had a skull and crossbones tattooed on her ankle. When I asked if she was celebrating TLAPD, she gave me a hearty "Aye!"
Now that I'm home ... er ... now that I've returned to me home port, I've got about 3 hours worth of pirate songs (no, I'm NOT joking!) loaded up on the MP3 player ...
Whilst listenin' to the BBC this foine marnin'. I heard them a-givin' credit to the day and interviewin' a lad yclept Cap' Tom, who sounded suspiciously like your scurv - your noble self, sahr.
Money Alert! The date you are celebrating, Talk Like A Pirate Day, was mentioned on the Short Bus Late Night Show, "Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel." I don't know the dude who mentioned it, but Kimmel was really surprised to hear it, and to hear his audience uttering some "Arrrr's."
Dude, you have to send a letter and a CD of your song to Kimmel's booking agent. Then you have one year to get together your red coat and tricorner hat, and get booked on that show. (I've seen the talent they book on that miserable show. You'll send 'em to Davy Jones's Green Room.)
I went to AdultFanFiction after hearing your song and posted a challenge to write pirate Hermione fics, and found that someone else had independantly had the same idea: (http://hp.adultfanfiction.net/story.php?no=600006950), it's a rated ARRRRR SS/HG story, nothing explicit, but some implicit.
Thought it would tickle you to know.
...and thought I'd tell you that I LOVED Old God's Lament.... and just about everything else you've done. =)
