Two big music conventions this weekend: ConSonance in the Bay area, MarsCon in Bloomington, MN. (On that last one: Gary Jones from SG1 is unable to appear. But in his place, they traded up to Patricia Tallman.) May everyone going to either one of them have safe travels and a great time.

Since the travelling weather looks particularly bad in this half of the country, I'd be much obliged if you all sound off as you make it in safely. [livejournal.com profile] devospice, [livejournal.com profile] wormquartet, Carla, [livejournal.com profile] ohiblather, [livejournal.com profile] telynor, I'm lookin' at you.

I'm giving travel condition updates on the DR mailing list. Mpls Int'l is still going along smoothly with only minimal delays.

Made it home from work in Minneapolis-land, but doubt I'll be making it to MarsCon this weekend due to the way my car handles (or doesn't) in snowy/icy conditions.

Keep us folks on the Dementia Party Bus in your prayers. It's going from Chicago to Wisconsin--pick me up--then on to MarsCon.

I'm supposed to be working ConSuite @ Consonance, but I left work early today, having apparently picked up what leveled [livejournal.com profile] gridlore last weekend. I have email in to [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat (speaking is not on my list of priorities right now) to see how she wants to handle it.

It was a conscious choice on my part, that I would take only one weekend off from my successful weekend band per year, and that Minicon would be that weekend. Even so, it does hurt a little bit that people I'd like to see will be in town, and that I will almost certainly not see any of them. Have a good time for me, y'all; I will be playing the Anoka, Minnesota, American Legion and getting good money -- if the snow isn't so bad that it forces the gig to be called off.

Carla Ulbrich is in Mason City, IA, in the same predicament as [livejournal.com profile] ericcoleman, stuck there until they re-open I-35 North. I hope they can get to the con by 10:00 pm tomorrow, but the obvious priority is to be safe. Their concerts aren't til Saturday afternoon.

[livejournal.com profile] telynor has been in the SF Bay Area since last Tuesday.
I saw her tonight at the Committee pre-con dinner.

[livejournal.com profile] ohiblather posted yesterday that she was worried about her flight this morning getting out.

I went to Pittcon in Chicago yesterday, which despite a name that sounds like it might be a meetup of anime fans and filkers is actually an analytical chemistry trade show, and encountered considerably less thunderstorm that was being forecast. I even got a few cool photos of Chicago in the fog.
