Tom Poston Dies

Character actor Tom Poston, who has a gazillion credits dating back to the 1940s but is best known for his work on many TV shows (from The Steve Allen Show and To Tell The Truth to Mork & Mindy and The Bob Newhart Show to That 70's Show and Will and Grace) and and for being lucky enough to be married to Suzanne Pleshette, has passed away at the age of 85.

Although Poston appeared in episodes of "The Bob Newhart Show," I think he was better known for his appearances on the later "Newhart." The latter is the show where he was the handyman George Utley.

Aww. I also remember him 'character wise' a little better from the later "Newhart" episodes. Did he ever guest shot or have a recurring character on "Benson" with Robert Guillame or am I thinking someone else?

Hm. From his IMDB credits, that's about the only show he wasn't on....

My favorite role of his was one of his last: that of "Dying Clown" on the NBC sitcom "Committed."

I'm sorry to hear about Tom Poston. He was a very funny guy. And IMO it was nice that he and Suzanne Pleshette found each other again after being widowed. I didn't know they'd gotten married.

TERRIFIC actor! He even starred in a little known movie called "Zotz", which was lots of fun.

Oh that sucks!! I remember him from a number of shows. He is one of those actors you expect to around forever, always popping up when you least expect it.
