It's been awhile since we linked up to one of my very favorite game sites, Orisinal, which has a whole bunch of Flash games that are innovative, nonviolent, elegant, and gorgeous. I particularly love the music on a few of them.

Any good online games you'd like to recommend?

Heh. I was just clicking here to recommend that game as well. For something as seemingly simple as it, I have spent *hours* playing it.

Ah, interesting. As if it didn't already consume hours of time. :)

The music is the best part of that game. Sometimes I ust load it and let it run in the background. It's very Zen.

Not an online game but

Is your yahoomail working okay?
I sent you an email a couple of days ago and you're usually pretty quick to respond.

Last I checked, which was about a minute and a half ago. What was?

Potential coffeehouse gig in Little Rock on the way to FenCon.
If you're going to be driving, are you interested?

See my blogs of May 2 and last week talking about Studio Joe.
Their website is still under construction, so I can't give you *their* URL, but if you want, I can give their sound man / booking guru *your* URL when I'm there at next week's Open Mike night.

Sooner or later I'm going to sing "Telly Taley Heart" there...

I am currently hooked on Crazy Bricks, found at gameelephant.com, which I cited in my LJ a few days ago. It's a fiendishly addictive "Breakout" variant with most of the text (what there is of it) in what looks like Chinese. There are five levels, and the upper three feature "wormholes" that suck in your ball at one point and warp it to another on the board, often shooting back out in the direction of your paddle (which looks like some kind of DaVinci-designed flying machine). And destroying various bricks sends all sorts of surprises falling toward you, from lightning-shooters to gems that change the ball in size and properties (not always to your benefit). There are also these star-of-David panels, passing over which changes your ball, shrinks it or multiplies it. Just make sure to keep your mouse cursor within the Flash window's boundaries or you lose control of the paddle.

Games... Hmm.. I heard about this site from a friend...

http://www.addictinggames.com/

I normally raid popcap.com when I need to kill time with an online game... (Usually, I just pull out my organizer and play MicroFluxx on it.)

A Flash version of Adventure! Or if you prefer, A Java version of Adventure! The former has that nice green monochrome thing going for it. Either way, nice flashbacks for me...I used to hang around Clarkson College in the early 80's cuz my Dad taught there, and I had a lot of fun playing Adventure on the Imsai...trading hints and maps with both students and professors.

Slightly off-topic, but it's hard to not reccomend brettspielwelt.de -- a great, free online site with lots of german-style board games, played on line (and in real time).

In a similar vein are turn-based strategy game sites like www.buttonmen.com (online Button Men), and superdupergames.org and it's ilk (turn-based board games).

I also play online mafia -- a political/info game, on mafiascum.net.

For me, at least, the flash games are a nice divertisment, but what keeps me coming back are the sites where I can play games against another human being. (the exception: legend of the green dragon, which is really a solo game despite the player vs player aspects. But that's not really as fulfilling as the rest).
