If this has been around before, forgive me for being slow. But I've just heard Gary Stockdale's song "If It Wasn't For You".

DAYUMM.

Got any cool songs you've heard on MySpace or YouTube lately?

Not a song, but a dance. A Chinese dance called the " Thousand-Hand Guanyin". Exquisite, and even more surprising when you read a bit about the dancers and the occasion.

I'm still enjoying the Jaik Willis tune "Checks and Balances" - MySpace seems to be down at the moment so I can't provide links to there, so here's JaikWillis.com (http://www.jaikwillis.com/). Checks and Balances (http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/lwwsongspage.html) can be found on Neil Young's Living With War Today song page. It's song #1104 at the moment - I'm not sure if they add new songs to the end of the list or the top, so that number might change.

Two that you've probably already seen but any one who hasn't will have a treat.

I actually come across new songs most often because they've been used as the soundtrack for "tribute" videos on YouTube to some show or film I liked. Frex, I know "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback now thanks to a truly kick-ass Heroes tribute video which you can find in my YouTube playlists (look for CajunGypsy). And "Hero" by Chad Kroeger (apparently originally from the soundtrack of the Jet Li movie of the same name) came to my attention after someone made a Superman Returns video using it.

Don't listen to MySpace music that much, aside from Cacie Sears' stuff.

Well, being the local Rush fan around here, I suppose I have to present this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S9uNxUI9ng (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S9uNxUI9ng)

It's the video for the single "Far Cry" from Rush's latest CD, Snakes and Arrows. I wouldn't bother mentioning it here, except that this one is by far the most surrealistic video that I've ever seen come out of the Rush camp yet. Kind of weird. Good? You decide...

p.s. Hey, Tom, I've got one of my own recording projects on my Ravenslake MySpace page - if you're curious, I can post that in this thread. Not mastered, and I'll admit not quite perfect, but what the heck...
