For the mere expenditure of $690.00, you too can not only have your very own instrument of mass distraction, but you are entered into a drawing for the other two models in their catalogue!

(Somebody should tell [livejournal.com profile] philfoglio and [livejournal.com profile] kajafoglio about this. I think I shall. :)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] drzarron for the heads-up.

Well, it may help you in your endeavors to realize that there are easily available plans for a *working* table-top fusion reactor.

No good for power generation, but it makes an excellent neutron source. And I'm sure that a mad scientist such as yourself can think of lots of uses for *that*. :-)

Oh I know, I know... and they make excellent neutron sources for a thorium reactor, you can build a working, energy producing reactor with a core about the size of a large coffee can... [well, less the shielding, otherwise it's about the size of V8 engine]

I've the plans for one stashed away awaiting more money.

Neat.

I suspect a "working" model could be built up around a revolver. Semi-auto would be difficult due to the slide. Probably a single-action would be preferred so you could avoid having to swing the cylinder out. Although it would make proper cleaning a bit of a challenge ... A DA revolver would work if you could remove the left side of the shell to open the cylinder.

Building one up around a taser would be more appropriate to spirit of the design. *bzzztt*

That said, I'll just appreciate them for the aesthetics.

Here's a thought, build one around a small .22 cal pistol...
with the guts of a solid-state tesla coil wrapped around the barrel, so when the round is fired the coil discharges along the path.
