Great buncha folks, fun con. I'm gonna be moving a little slow at the junction -- my ankle has been giving me trouble for a few days, and I'm shambling -- but there are so many friends there, including a couple (like Moonwolf, Murray, Lee, and Frank) just don't see too often. If you're in the vicinity, come on down -- the music'll be great.

What all are you doing this weekend?

It is my sincere hope that [a] Ithaca is properly, or improperly, rocked, [b] "house-related things with the wife" are entertaining, productive, or at least easy to clean up after, [c] you can make it to Duck next year, and [d] I am properly prancing by the end of the weekend. I'll send you video and everything.

(What I've really got to do is lose all this stupid weight, enough so that I can get back into a Frank N. Furter costume. Then you muthafukkas'll see some prancing.)

Before that, I played Frank. Mom destroyed two costumes and thought I was turning gay. I tried to explain to her that I was meeting more women than I ever imagined possible.

You'll have a hard time beating John Huff of Clam Chowder at Darkover last year. The Clams promised the crowd "Sweet Transvesite" if they donated $5000 the Children's Hospital in DC. They delivered, and so did poor John.

Even sweeter, a Clam spouse's office's donation matching program *doubled* the result.

Actually, the number was $10,000 for Sweet Transvestite. 2005 they raised over $5000. I don't think them or he expected that number to be reached.

Considering they raise the money to get the Clams to perform Bend Over Greek Sailor, its fun. (Its also one of the charitys I recommend a donation to.)

What I said. The total was $5000 and change, which was *doubled* by the employer's matching donation.

What I understand it was $10k BEFORE the doubling, not after. I spoke to a filk dealer from the con who told me the numbers.

No, that's wrong. I was there.

$5000 was impressive enough, considering that there were <300 people at the con.

Per Kathy Sands, it was $10k in 2006, 5k in 2005.

Might finally get to see Spidey 3. Remember when movies ran for months in the same theater? Now you're lucky if they run for more than two weeks.

If we can't find a timely screening, we will see Pirates again, since that is still in its window of play.

Tonight, dinner and theatre. Today's our anniversary, so Sharon and I have reservations at the West End Grill in Ann Arbor. It's supposed to be one of the best in town, and we've never been. Then we have tickets to the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre production of "Hair".

My flight to Beijing leaves at 2:30 PM Saturday. Hopefully, I'll have time to file a post or two while I'm there. Back on the 23rd.

Weekend plans...

My sister's birthday tomorrow...

Sunday - Clean the room finally, design cover for a CD that has the audio done for months, just needs cover designed and permissions to be paid for. (If I ever do another CD for that artist, they are going to be told TRADITIONAL TUNES ONLY. Otherwise, compilation albums only.)

At least I have the computer repair projects off of the desk.

Wow, Petticoat Junction reference. Good luck with that, Uncle Joe. I'd love to try out Duckon some year.

Me, I'll be taking care of the boys tomorrow (probably including another D&D session) while Beck gets some time off and away from home. Then Sunday's my turn: role-playing with (other) friends in Sacramento. Busy but fun.

Family weekend. The parents, and a grandmother, are driving down from New York tomorrow for a weekend with their eldest scion. Dinner scheduled for tomorrow night with the local branch (grandmother's extended family lives around here, and she hasn't seen them for a long time).

Tonight, gaming, of the board variety.

Saturday [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I have the Baycon staff BBQ and possibly a party.

I will spend the majority of the weekend either:

a. Getting ready to return to work after four weeks of dealing with this damn potassium issue, or

b. Spend the weekend thinking up inventive curses and tortures for my bloody wishy-washy doctor who never answers his emails.

Plans are to do some MUCH needed cleaning around the condo. Which means my parents will call and demand I drop what I am doing and go over to their house to do work around there that they should be paying someone to do for them. Like they did the last 3 weekends. They have no understanding of the statement "I have other plans that I made weeks ago!", they feel because they are both no longer in perfect health that my weekends should be spent playing slave to them. And they wonder why my other two brothers are moving out of this area and I serious considered doing the same last year while I was unemployed and looking for a new place to work.
