Dragon*Con is huge. But, because of the way things are laid out, it doesn't feel as directly huge as it might.

GenCon, though... whoa.

Now I remember from my days of gaming cons. And I never went to this one before. Just the teeming masses hanging around in the lobbies are impressive. The swag bag is impressive. The program book is impressive. (Except for the fact that I'm only named in it once, almost incidentally, for the 8:00 p.m. comedy show tonight at the Grand IV Ballroom in the Westin. I should be going on about 9:00.) The layout of the dealers' room is positively frightening.

I'm in the Guests Of Honor Autographs And Entertainer's Spotlight area, near the front concession stand. Come on by and say Hi.

I'm always amazed at the people milling around at Gencon. And the lines. :-)

Saw Luke yesterday, will try to drop by and say "Hi" today. The layout isn't bad, though I feel for the booths that are trapped near the computer gaming music. :-P Also noticed that I didn't see your name in the program book.

If I can make it to the show, I will, though, this is a fun one to work. All sorts of chaos and insanity.

Yes, the difference between a Con and a Trade Show.

Just wait, one day you'll work San Diego Comic Con, then you will have seen HELL.

I was told at the time you were added to the bill, that the guide book had already gone to press, so I was happy to see that there were at least able to get your name mentioned in it once. Sadly, there is zero mention of Rob Balder, Worm Quartet, or Carrie Dahlby. Which is part of the reason why I stayed up super late last night making fliers and such to promote the show. :)

'Salright. They'll know who all of us are by the end of the show. :)

If it's even one TENTH of the show you usually put on, they'll not only know you, they'll want to have your babies! *grin*

Are you at the table already? Did you find the serepticiously placed power strip behind your table? Is there free Wifi in the convention center? Bacon?

Kevin Murphy also appears to be a big fan of Bacon. Here is another clip which is from the 300 RiffTRax which made me think of you. lol

If you are curious, he is being the Wolf that is hunting young Leonidas.

If I ever lose my sanity/gain bravery enough to try GenCon will you hold my hand occasionally so I don't get completely lost?

If you feel the need to escape the insanity for a bit, do call! We can do barbecue (southern or mongolian... your choice) and hang out for a bit. I'm reasonably free all weekend, starting about 6 p.m. today.

Enjoy GenCon!

It was good to chat w/ you today! I hope you and Leslie managed to find something interesting for dinner without having to get out and deal w/ the downtown traffic. As much as I hate that we couldn't get together, I think you're probably right that dealing w/ the end-of-the-day Gencon traffic would have been messy.

So... I'll see you in October at Conclave, instead!

Absolutely on all counts. We ended up going to the fancy restaurant up top of the Hyatt. Very nice. And we had a great view of the traffic....

Yep. That's GenCon.

I've attended several as an exhibitor/game master.

We've had people who swore to us they could handle large crowds. We've explained to them that "large" in this case is on a par with Comdex and other major industry trade shows. They didn't believe us.

One had a panic attack when we were setting up our booth in the dealer's room and JUST THE DEALERS were there.

I think we may have to start comparing it to times square on NYE as a threshold level, next. *sigh*

It's your fault. It's your fault. It's all your fault.

And I wanna go BACK! That was FUN!!!

(If you get there next year, talk to me. We might be in a position that J and I can fly up.)

Yeah, when I did Gencon a few years back, I was stunned by how MANY people there were, and how big that convention center was. You could have put the 1997 Baltimore Worldcon (the largest con I had been to at that point) into that hall and it would have RATTLED.

Have you found the footbridge to the mall yet? There's a Maggie Moo's right on the other side. ;-}

Baltimore had the Worldcon in 1998. San Antontio (LoneStarCon 2) was 1997.

If you cross paths with the Brobdingnagian Bards, say howdy for me, and get them to tell you about Studio Joe. I'd like to try to book you in there either going or coming on the FenCon trip. I'm going to try emailing you from my sbcglobal account, since the ones from Gmail seem to be getting blackholed.

Q and I went to GenCon last year, lotsa fun! We were rather amused that Indianapolis was connected by a series of tubes.

I want to go on record as being insanely jealous... The people, I always get such neat pictures... the gealers room, where being a girl gamer means discounts, (sexist I know, but fun ;-) ) the Chessex booth with all the shiney dice a magpie could want... A chance to wear all the nifty costumes I have made over the years, just because.
