... no.
Thank you.
At this point, I am celebrating the fact that no dogs are licking my shorts.
Remind me -- what pets do you all have...?

Date: 2010-03-14 02:38 am (UTC)Since ferrets are illegal in New Hampshire, where the now married and expecting former roommates live, I have him. He is Zeke, the Polish Ferret, the Furry Burrito, and quite honestly, the coolest, most adorable pet I've ever had the pleasure of owning. He's almost two years old now, and my GF and my daughter, as well as my current roommates, love him. Whenever I come home, or wake up, I always smile and look at him in his cage, in my room, and say to him, "Hey there, ya lil weasel!" LOL

Date: 2010-03-14 03:21 am (UTC)Me, I have a new little kitty, named Gypsy:
That's her picture from the Humane Society. She picked me. She's partially tortie and partially tabby and entirely opinionated.
My old cat, Nero, Ontario Veterinary College Mr. Congeniality 2009, passed away on 26 January of cancer.

Date: 2010-03-14 03:19 am (UTC)This is important.
In case nobody reads my LJ my daughter is autistic. This poses issues for quite a few things in our lives.
A week or so ago my daughter was out and about with her special needs class at Petco and a cute little shelter shown Lhasa Apso named Snoopy came up to her. She not only voluntarily petted the dog quietly but produced a dog brush from someplace and brushed Snoopy quietly for several minutes.
Unfortunately Snoopy was adopted thirty minutes before we showed up to adopt him. *sigh*
So next week we're going to take our daughter to one of the largest shelter shows in our county and see if we can make the magic happen again.
I don't foresee any problems with the adoption itself because both my wife and I have been dog owners off and on for years.
Personally when I retire to a nice piece of country farmland I'd seriously like a Tibetan Mastiff. ;-)

Date: 2010-03-14 01:55 pm (UTC)A dog with this training can often sense what's going on inside a person with autism and sort of ...proxy express?... their emotions. (I worked with people with autism and other needs for years. Dogs and horses seemed to work wonders)
A therapy dog training rep might even go with you to pick a dog - they can help with getting the right temperament.

Date: 2010-03-14 03:30 am (UTC)One is a 30 pound (nearly all muscle!) monster cat named Glitterfrost. We adopted him from Cats Haven (http://www.catshaven.org) at InConjunction almost 13 years ago. His name may be blamed on the fact that everyone swore he was a she when a kitten, and his fascination with sparkly things.
The other is Doria Gray, another shelter kitty that we adopted about two years ago. Her name may be blamed on Oscar Wilde. She is a gray longhair cat who was burned on her back as a kitten, still has a bald patch there from the scar, but is no less adorable. And will remind you of her adorableness at every opportunity.

Date: 2010-03-14 03:46 am (UTC)Panta (the one in my icon)is now nearing his 17th birthday. I got him in November 1993, when he was adolescentish. (not a kitten, but not full grown.) He is still going strong, and in fact will often chase Tina around the apartment.
Tina we got about a year and half ago, as a rescue kitty. She also was not fully grown.
