Not really. The guitar hides some of it on my right. Seriously.

And I've heard the camera adds ten pounds. Oh and love the song, I always have.

I'm surprised you can't hear me crying. I wasn't that far from the camera. I love that song.

Thanks again for all you did for Dragon*Con this year.

*love and huggles*

God. That's one of two songs I can't listen to without crying.

*echoing those who are bawling their eyes out*

way back when the TNG actors were doing the late night talk show rounds, I managed to get Stewart on one of them (Tonight show I *think*) after his bit, I stopped the tape but not before hearing that Frank Oz was the next guest.

Sadly, I did not tape his appearance and as it turned out, it was very shortly before he passed thru the veil.

THANK you for writing this song

There goes the tears again. It is an amazing song, and will be relavent for as long as people know who Kermit is.

*sigh* I finally worked up the nerve to listen to it on your "Homecoming" CD.

I was so proud of myself for only tearing up a little bit...and then it launched right into "Rainbow Connection". *THAT'S* when I lost it totally.

I was one of those hiding in the back. During that song, a friend openly sniffled and sobbed, and apologetically explained that it reminded her of her mother (who died of cancer a few years ago). I just wiped my own tears away, smiled the best I could, and nodded.

I've seen very few songs so universally touching, that can bring a whole roomful of adults to tears. And in a GOOD way!

So thank you so much for performing it.

The first time I saw Tom Smith was at Dragon*Con 2004. I was stuck there, my car having self-destructed. I had no big agenda, and was alone at the con. On the advice of Luke Ski I attended the late-night filk.

When I entered and sat, Tom started singing "A Boy and His Frog." I was videotaping, but was only seeing him between two people's heads and the shot was horrible.

Being a pro, I try to hold down my emotions while taping; it dishonors the person you're taping to shake and let the camera drift away. So I held it in, until I got to my room later on and watched the tape. Then I cried.

I've felt tears well up every time he sings it. And, in my hallucinations, I dream of winning the Florida Lotto and bringing him down to Orlando to play that song before the Disney cast members at the Comedy Warehouse. I envision all of them - especially the really good improv performers - with the same tears in their eyes.

Does that make me a sadist or something?

P.S. I really think, Tom, that whenever time permits, you should do what you did at Marscon and segue that song into "Rainbow Connection."

Not a sadist. Remember what Spider Robinson said: "Shared joy is increased, shared pain is lessened."

And I try to pick and choose when I do "Rainbow Connection". It wasn't a time consideration at all; I've found those songs together are a powerful one-two punch. The room's gotta be just right for that.

Crying yet again. I so much want to share that song with people, but I can't sing it without breaking down. I can only play the recording at them, and then sniffle somewhere out of hearing.

*HUG*
