Off To InConJunction

I'm Toastmaster. Should be a lot of fun as usual, with a bunch of great guests (including Michael Z. Williamson, Robin Wood, and our own sazettel). I've running a pun-off tonight, a 1-1/2 hour concert tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., a Dr. Horrible panel in the afternoon, I'm MC'ing the masquerade, and there's a panel on Geek Musicals Sunday afternoon.

Who's gonna be there? And, if you're not, how's your weekend shaping up?

Let's see, got a/c fixed and rear brakes replaced yesterday. Need to spend more today on groceries. Tomorrow is my birthday and probably spending some money at the park where we will see Happy Schnapps Combo. Sunday is Chicago day where we will go for the afternoon, have dinner and then see the Blue Man Group. Then next week is still up in the air on what we are doing for our vacation.

Knowing I had today off, I stayed up reading and playing computer games until 1:30 last night. This morning, the guys who cut our lawn showed up at 7:30. So the weekend's not off to a great start. :P At least I can nap later.

Not much on the schedule, which is fine with me. Tomorrow, we're going to go have lunch with my mother, and see Moon. I have fairly high hopes for it, as the reviews have been encouraging. (Too bad it's getting such a lousy release. I'm having to travel out to Royal Oak, almost an hour away, to see it.)

Seems to be a trend... we're not off for the holiday, but the Dain works second shift so we went to bed at 3:30 (damn you Twilight Zone marathon!)

The yard guys were directly under our (open) bedroom window with an industrial leaf blower at 8.

I got up at my normal 5 a.m. so I could get over to the storage cube as soon as the security gate came online at 6, and continue the ongoing process of "Figuring out what-all is where, and how much of it we *really* want to keep":

The cans of Really Old Paint need to go to the Hazardous Waste Collection station [after work Thursday]
The still-good paint brushes can come home and go into the box with the other paint brushes in the patio closet.
!AHA! so *that's* where the stash of work gloves got to![bringing them home to see which ones are really still usable]
HMMM: these tools are still good but I don't really need them at the apartment right now.
Same goes for all these coils of rope.
I want to send this track-ball cat toy to Sharon: she's got that new kitten; so bring IT home also.
Put the bin with the box fishing lures and cricket cage on top of the stack: you never know...

This reduced a stack of variously-full green plastic bins as tall as I am to
a] 4 bins remaining in the storage with Stuff in them
b] 4 bins in the back of the truck [3 bins of discards & 1 containing the paint brushes, work gloves, and cat toy}
c] 6 empty bins [take down the row to the Sharon Storage Cube; I'll add the ones now in the truck to that stack next weekend.

and voila! I can see the entirety of the gray metal shelf unit along the right-hand wall. This was duly photographed (close enough that I can read box labels).

Mission accomplished for the day.

I am at Westercon in Arizona. Wish you could be at this con instead, haven't seen you live in a number of years. Looking forward to a nice conventional weekend.

I'll be looking at apartments in the Cleveland area. Then tomorrow, I hope to meet up with mseuphrates and irish_coyote at Mike's Place in Kent. Then on Sunday, I see my daughter.

Tomorrow is weekly shopping trip with MIL, then DH and I will have lunch with her at her apartment complex, and then DH and I are headed out to a friend's house for a party. It's always fun to NOT host once in a while. I may bring a couple of board or card games to kill time waiting for fireworks - Apples to Apples is always good for a laugh.

Had today off, ran a few errands (not 100% sucessful, one store closed for vacation, and the post office closed at noon today with no advance notice, I got there at 1 PM along with a lot of other upset people expecting it to be open until 4 PM as usual today). Got a much needed nap late afternoon that would have gone longer if I hadn't forgetten that my PC turns on at a set time and starts playing Dementia Radio (task to wake the PC up on work days so it is running when I get home). The weekend looks quiet, no planned BBQ invites but I am open if one is thrown at me with no notice. After 2 weeks of work hell, I plan to recharge this weekend.
